Friday Night Gamepad Unhide
By Walters
A small, unofficial workaround for the WoW: Forever beta issue where the native Gamepad Action Bar disappears while controller buttons still work.
What it does
- Checks the native Gamepad Action Bar when you enter the world and shows it if hidden.
- Restores visibility when the bar is fully transparent.
- Waits until combat ends before changing protected frames.
- Provides optional commands to restore visibility or reposition the bar.
It does not replace the native controller UI, change your keybindings, or reset your Edit Mode layout.
Getting started
- Enable Gamepad UI (Alpha) in the game options.
- Install and enable Gamepad Unhide in your AddOns list.
- Log in. The visibility check runs automatically when you enter the world.
If the bar disappears again after using Edit Mode, try /gpau show while out of combat.
Commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/gpau |
Displays visibility, transparency, anchor, and position-override information. |
/gpau show |
Retries the visibility check. |
/gpau center |
Moves the bar to a bottom-center position and saves the override for the current character. |
/gpau clear |
Removes the character's position override and restores the prior anchor for the current session. |
Position changes are optional. Use /gpau center only if you want to reposition the bar.
Compatibility and testing
- Release: 0.2.0 — Beta
- Interface version: 16001
- Verified in-game to restore the missing native Gamepad Action Bar on beta build 1.60.1.70291.
- A subsequent disable/re-enable test also restored the missing buttons.
- Other game versions and controller UI replacements have not been tested.
Important notes
This is a temporary visibility workaround, not a fix for the underlying game bug. Future game updates may make it unnecessary or require changes to the addon.
If you report an issue, please include your game build, addon version, and whether the bar disappeared after logging in or changing Edit Mode settings.
