Description

Built for the journey

Like many players, I'm treating Forever as a chance to rediscover the game. The magic of WoW is that first journey, and this addon is built to support that experience.

While ForeverArtisan lists every recipe, where to get each one comes from your own play. It remembers where you've been, not where you're going: the trainers you meet, what you gather, the recipes you find. I get that it's not for everyone, and that's okay. Want to look ahead? Crowdsourced sites have that covered.

One download, one module per profession, a Camp window for Forever's new campfires, and a contact book of where to find your trainers and vendors again. Switch any of them off in the /fa panel.

Crafting: Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Cooking, Enchanting, Engineering, First Aid, Leatherworking, Tailoring

  • Make now: recipes that still give skill-ups, and whether you have the materials.
  • Plan to a target skill: the crafts to get there and a shopping list. Materials you make yourself (bolts, bars, cured hides, Light Leather) count toward your skill-ups. When two recipes are about as likely to skill up, the plan picks the one that costs less per point.
  • Recipes you can still train: the plan doesn't stop at what you know. If a trainer you've met teaches the next recipe, the step says "train at 55" and the shopping list starts with the training: "Train now" for what your skill already allows, then the rest in the order you'll need them, each with its cost.
  • Prices on the shopping list: what each missing material costs and a total for the whole list, with how old the prices are. No other addon needed: ForeverArtisan remembers the cheapest buyout on Auction House pages you look at. Auctionator is optional; with it installed, its scans count too. A vendor you've met wins when it's cheaper.
  • Click to search: at the Auction House, click a shopping list item and its name goes in the search box. You press Search. ForeverArtisan never searches or buys for you.
  • Tools and stations: "needs Blacksmith Hammer" or "needs Runed Copper Rod" before you waste a trip. Tools go first on the shopping list.
  • Recipe book: every recipe, the ones you know first. Each one you don't know says where to get it: a trainer or vendor you've met, a recipe you looted, a quest that offered it, or "not found yet". It never guesses.
  • Where materials drop: loot a bat wing and its tooltip remembers "Dropped by Greater Duskbat, Tirisfal Glades".
  • Open window: one click opens the game's profession window.
  • Where to train next, and a craft log for every character.
  • Taller window: drag the corner down and long plans and shopping lists fit. Both also scroll with the mouse wheel.

Gathering: Herbalism, Mining, Skinning

  • What to gather next for skill-ups, colored for your skill.
  • Gather log by zone, so you know where you found what.
  • Guides: every Classic herb, every node type, and the leather each mob level drops.
  • Reminders when Find Herbs or Find Minerals is off.
  • Cultivation (Tauren): herb tooltips say when it's ready, so you cast it before you pick and get a free duplicate. It learns each herb's level requirement from your own casts.

Camping

Forever adds campfires: every profession makes a camp item, and Cooking builds the fire. The Camp window keeps track of it all.

  • Your camp items: what each of your professions can place now, and the skill for the next tier.
  • Craft button: opens the profession window on the recipe. It grays out when you're missing materials; hover it to see what's missing.
  • Cooldown: the one-hour timer after you place one, and a chat line when your camp items are ready again.
  • Campfire kits: which ones you can learn and which you can light. Cooking needs more skill to use a kit than to learn it.
  • At a fire: a reminder lists the camp items in your bags and what each one gives (+crit, +stats, +Intellect, +Stamina).
  • It never places anything for you, and it doesn't map other players' fires.

Fishing

  • One key casts, puts your best lure on the pole, and reels in on the splash.
  • Weapon swap: trades your pole for your weapons when combat starts.
  • Catch log per spot, with catch rates.
  • Derby countdown to the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza.

Trade Contacts

  • Your crafting address book. Every crafting vendor and trainer you meet is saved with what they sell or teach, prices and location, shared by all your characters.
  • Class trainers too, with the spells they teach, next ones for your level first.
  • Nearest trainer: pick your class or a profession and see every trainer you've met, nearest first, with distance. Click for a waypoint (TomTom if you have it, the map pin if not).
  • Notes crafting NPCs as you pass them, before you talk to them. Only not visited lists the ones you haven't talked to yet.
  • Its own minimap button, a gold map pin, opens it in one click.

Job titles in town

Friendly NPCs show their job under their name, like "Leatherworking Trainer", so you can find the right one in a busy city. This is part of the core addon and works even with Trade Contacts off.

  • Needs the game's friendly NPC nameplates on. If they're off, the /fa panel says so and has a "Turn on nameplates" button. ForeverArtisan never changes your nameplate settings by itself.
  • Plays nice with nameplate addons. With Plater, Threat Plates, KuiNameplates, ElvUI nameplates and similar running, ForeverArtisan leaves titles to them so you never see one twice. /fa titles on | off | auto lets you choose.
  • It starts empty and only knows NPCs you've actually met.

Your data stays in SavedVariables on your own computer. Nothing is sent anywhere.

The main minimap button is the gold FA logo. After an update, your first login lists what's new in chat (/fa new shows it again).

Free, no ads, no premium tier.

Enjoy the journey!
