What's new

Hearthkeep update log (up to version 1.2)

Everything below was added or fixed after the change summary I wrote following the bank fixes. None of it has been tested in the game yet, so it all still needs checking there.

Auction house

  • Faction frame: your faction’s frame now goes around the auction house. It only goes around the outside, so Auctionator and everything inside keep working as before.
  • Movable: you can drag it by its title bar.
  • Remembers its place: it opens where you last dragged or closed it.
  • Softer edges: the dark inside fades into the frame instead of ending in hard lines.
  • No see-through gaps: a filled background removes the gaps around the window, and the tab row sits inside the frame.

Vendors and conversation windows

  • Faction frame: vendors, gossip windows and quest dialogs get the same frame.
  • NPC name: the NPC’s name is shown on the wooden board at the top, and long names shrink to fit.
  • Movable and remembered: you drag them by the title bar and they reopen where you left them.
  • Settings: this can be turned on or off separately from the auction house in /hk > Look.

Character window and the game’s other windows

  • Faction frame: these windows get the frame too:
    • character, spellbook and talents, social, guild and communities;
    • group finder, collections, adventure guide, professions;
    • mailbox, trainer, inspect, macros, trade, dressing room and stable.
  • Window name: each window’s name goes on the board; the character window shows your character’s name.
  • Movable: you can drag them by the title bar. A window only remembers its place once you’ve dragged it, so the game can still put them side by side until then.
  • Reset: /hk resetwindows puts them all back in the game’s own places.
  • Combat: a window opened for the first time during combat gets its frame when combat ends.
  • Left as they were: the achievements window and the world map, because their own art clashes with the frame.

Close buttons (X)

  • X missing: fixed. Hearthkeep now dresses the game’s own close button as the Hearthkeep X, so clicks always go to the game’s button.
  • X hidden on the spellbook: fixed. The X is now placed above everything inside each window, including inner pages like the spellbook’s.

Faction art

  • Horde flag on the Alliance frame: removed.
  • Blocky pixels around the flags: smoothed away on every window.
  • Minimap corner: shows only the flag itself, so the map is visible right up to its edge.

Minimap (merged from Hearthkeep Map)

  • Part of Hearthkeep: the separate Hearthkeep Map addon is now built in.
  • Settings carried over: size, position and options are copied over once. You can then disable the old addon.
  • Settings tab: there is a new Map tab in /hk. Commands are /hk map, /hk map icons, /hk map size, /hk map lock and /hk map reset.

Action bars (new)

  • Clusters: your bars are now clusters of buttons in the Hearthkeep style, inside a slim wooden frame. On first start you get the game’s five bars, with your spells and keybinds.
  • Game bars hidden: the game’s own action bars are hidden. The stance bar, pet bar and status bars stay.
  • Shape:
    • Each cluster can be a row, column, grid or free layout. In free layout you drag each button wherever you want.
    • Up to 48 buttons per cluster, and as many clusters as you like.
    • Rows and Buttons per row controls: 2 rows of 3 buttons is two clicks.
  • Unlock (/hk bars unlock):
    • drag a cluster to move it, and drag its corner to resize the whole cluster;
    • use the mouse wheel over a button to resize just that button (hold Shift for all buttons in the cluster);
    • right-click a cluster to open its settings.
  • Per-cluster settings: first action slot, button size, spacing, cluster size, wooden frame on or off, and page switching with stances and forms.
  • Combat: bars lock themselves when combat starts, and changes wait until combat ends.

Quick keybinds

  • Keybind mode (/hk bars keys, the Keybinds button, or a key you choose in the game’s keybinding menu):
    • hover a button and press a key;
    • Shift, Ctrl and Alt combinations work, as do mouse buttons 3–5 and the mouse wheel;
    • up to two keys per button, and a key moves off any other button it was on.
  • Clearing keys:
    • right-click, Escape or Delete clears a single button;
    • Clear keys clears a whole cluster;
    • clearing also removes the game’s own keybind for that slot, so the key really stops using it.

Saved layouts

  • Per character: each character now has its own clusters. A new character starts with the game’s five bars.
  • Saving: a saved layout keeps every cluster’s position, size, shape, slots and keybinds. Save one in /hk > Bars or with /hk bars save <name>.
  • Loading: load it on any character with /hk bars load <name>. /hk bars load on its own lists your saved layouts.
  • Your existing bars: the clusters you had before were kept and also saved as “My first layout”.

Experience bar and menu bar (new)

  • Experience bar:
    • shows experience with rested XP in purple while levelling;
    • at max level it shows your watched reputation in its standing colour;
    • numbers appear on mouse-over, or always, or never.
  • Menu bar:
    • holds character, professions, talents and spellbook, achievements, quest log, guild, group finder, collections, adventure guide, shop and game menu, plus your bag with its free slots;
    • each button presses the game’s own button, so it works in combat too;
    • it can be horizontal or vertical.
  • Moving them: both move with the action bars when unlocked. The mouse wheel resizes them.
  • Settings: there is a new HUD tab in /hk. /hk hud reset puts both back.

Fixes

  • Edit Mode error: the error when closing Edit Mode is gone. The game’s experience and menu bars are now made invisible where they are, instead of being moved away.
  • “Spell is not on your bar”: the spellbook message is explained. The game only counts its own action bars that are switched on.
    • To fix it: tick Action Bars 6–8 in Options > Gameplay > Action Bars. Hearthkeep keeps those bars hidden, so nothing changes on screen.
    • Reminder in chat: Hearthkeep tells you which bars to tick. /hk bars check shows it at any time.

Settings window

  • New tabs: the settings window has new Map, Bars and HUD tabs, and it is a little bigger.
  • Look tab: it now has on/off switches for each group of game windows: auction house, vendors and conversations, and the other game windows.
