Forever Cooldown Manager
v0.8.0 (2026-09-26)
Full Changelog Previous Releases
- 0.8.0: per-character profiles, combined icons, fade out of combat
- Combine icons into one; fade the bars out of combat
Both requested on CurseForge.- Combined icons: on the Buffs and Debuffs bars an entry can be joined to
the one above (+ in the Bars card). A run of joined entries draws as
one icon, lit by whichever spell is up: seals, auras, aspects, stings.
In combat the member cast last takes the icon, so a new seal replaces
the old one even though the old one's removal cannot be seen. Stings
remember per target which one was cast. The lists stay plain spell ID
lists; db.links holds the joins, per profile and in the macro. - Removing the first entry of a combined icon keeps the rest together
instead of joining the icon before; the first entry of a bar is never
joined. All list edits in the settings window go through the core. - Fade: out of combat the bars can stay, fade (30%) or hide; they come
back in combat, on an enemy target, and while unlocked or in Edit Mode. - tests/test_combine.lua (new, in CI), plus macro round trips and the
Bars card button in test_persist / test_runtime.
- Combined icons: on the Buffs and Debuffs bars an entry can be joined to
- Tell characters apart by GUID, not name and realm
On Forever two characters can share a first name on one realm (a hunter
and a paladin both "Thunderz" on "Classic Beta PvE 2"), so keys and macro
names built from name and realm made them share one profile and one
settings macro.- profiles are keyed by the player GUID; a character's own profile is
labelled "Name (Class) - Realm", numbered if two still collide - the settings macro is named after the GUID. A pre-0.8.0 macro, named
after name and realm, is taken only when the character's spellbook has
its spells, and moves to the GUID name on the first write - name keys from the interim build are dropped; their profiles wait for
their owner like pre-profile lists (claimed by spellbook, renamed) - tests: characters are GUID identities, and the per-character tests use
two characters that share a name
- profiles are keyed by the player GUID; a character's own profile is
- Per-character profiles: each character keeps its own tracked lists
SavedVariables are per account. While the beta never loaded them, each
character's settings macro restored its own lists, so the setup was per
character by accident. Once the saved table loads (build 70009, or any
character switch within one launch) every character got the lists of
whoever played last: a paladin opened on the hunter's bars.
Builds on PR #2's named profiles:- profileKeys records which profile each character uses; a character
without one gets its own, named "Name - Realm" - login order: its entry in the saved settings, then its own settings
macro, then the pre-profile lists if its spellbook has those spells,
else a fresh profile. Another character's lists are never shown while
this is decided - the macro opt-in is per character, and a character's macro fills in
its lists when the loaded settings have none for it - macro overflow sheds learned durations, then unused profiles, before
keeping a stale copy; the profile name is written only when it is not
the character's own, so existing setups keep their macro count - rename takes sharing characters along, delete refuses a profile another
character uses, reset keeps other characters' profiles
- profileKeys records which profile each character uses; a character
- Merge PR #2 (named tracking profiles, shuyu42) for the per-character work
- Add named profiles for tracked cooldowns and auras
