Description

Forever: CCG

A full collectible card game, played inside World of Warcraft.

Collect cards by defeating the creatures and bosses of Azeroth, build a deck, then take on a solo campaign across the world map or duel other players, all without leaving the game.

Please note, Forever: CCG is currently in beta (as such, it is subject to regular updates, may be unstable and bugs may be encountered.. we will do our best to ensure anything broken doesnt stay around too long), we are aiming for full release alongside the game on November 4th. Its also worth noting that the addon uses the chat relay in-game and so is victim to any lag that may occur on chat channels - during the WoW forever Beta this may be especially unpredictable.

Its big… Really big.

  • 853 cards: 754 creature cards, 90 class spells and 5 basic Prayers
  • 57 zones and dungeons to collect from, from Elwynn Forest to Stratholme
  • A solo campaign with 38 Zone encounters and 22 Dungeon encounters, each with its own reward card
  • Player vs player duels against anyone running the addon, plus a practice mode against a Target Dummy
  • Card links to share any card in chat

Collecting cards

You build your collection by playing World of Warcraft: Forever.

  • Always available: Prayers (the game's mana source)
  • Unlocked By Levelling: Spells unlock as you level. Each of the nine classes has 10 spells. You unlock 4 copies of a spell from every class at level 6 and again every 6 levels (12, 18, 24 … 60), so all 90 are available by level 60. Each set of new spells is spread across all five colours.
  • Creature cards start locked. Defeat a creature in the world for a chance to unlock its card, There are ten creature cards in each open world zone, and a bunch hiding in instances too:
    • Each drop adds 1 copy to your collection, up to 4 copies
    • 1st copy: 100%, 2nd: 25%, 3rd: 12%, 4th: 6%
    • Kills by you, your party or your raid (including pets) all count
    • In dungeons, the game hides creature details from addons, so a kill counts when you get experience for it or loot its corpse. No experience (for example, the creature is grey to you)? Loot the corpse to collect its card. Looting a corpse that already counted doesn't roll again, and a dungeon kill that gives you neither experience nor loot can't be counted.
  • Final dungeon bosses always drop their card. You get 1 copy per defeat, up to 4, read straight from your character's boss kill statistics.
  • Reward cards are won, not dropped. Every solo encounter has its own reward card (57 in total) that can only be earned by beating it. 1 copy per win, up to 4.
  • New cards glow and show NEW at the top of the Deckbuilder, so you can see what you've picked up.
  • Mouse over any creature to see how many copies of its card you own (e.g. Forever: CCG card: 2/4) - Note - this does not function inside instances..
  • Entering a dungeon tells you if it still has cards you haven't fully collected.

Building a deck

The Deckbuilder lets you save up to 3 decks and switch between them at any time.

Deck rules

  • 40–50 cards
  • Up to 4 copies of any non-Prayer card (Prayers are unlimited)
  • Up to 12 spells per deck

Tools

  • Filter by card type, sphere, class, zone, faction and creature type
  • Sort by mana cost or by zone
  • Live card preview with the 3D model
  • Colour pips in the deck list for every colour in a card's cost
  • Mana curve and colour distribution charts for your active deck

How it plays

Both players start at 20 Life. Reduce your opponent to 0, or make them draw from an empty library, to win.

The five Spheres of mana

  • Holy: life gain, shielding, vigilant guards
  • Arcane: card draw, tempo, freezing, bounce
  • Shadow: removal, drain, disruption
  • Fire: aggression, burn, Quick creatures
  • Nature: ramp, Anti-Air blockers, massive creatures

Turn sequence: Untap & Draw → Main Phase → Combat (attack, block, resolve) → Main Phase 2 → End Turn.

Keywords: Quick, Airborne, Anti-Air, Strikes-First, Fatal, Drain, Brutish, Vigilant and Warded.

Tribal synergies: creatures carry a creature type, a faction and a zone, and many reward you for building around them. Defias, Kobolds, Murlocs, Scourge and more all have their champions.

Boss cards come with unique abilities. Some freeze, steal, resurrect or drain, and Herod must attack every turn.

Undo: misplayed? On your turn you can take back the last card you played, and everything it did is reverted with it.

  • One card only, and only in the phase you played it
  • Not once the play has drawn you a card, or after you've activated an ability
  • Against another player, your opponent has to accept the undo

On the board you get:

  • Spell reveals: cast spells are shown on screen with arrows to their targets (red for damage, green for healing), for both players
  • Floating numbers for damage and healing on creatures and players
  • Block arrows while you choose your blockers. Click a blocking creature again to unassign it
  • Effect tracking: damage and healing over time and damage shields on each player, with turns remaining
  • Dual-colour card frames for cards with two colours in their cost
  • A full game log beside the board
  • A resizable, movable board that can be minimised mid-match (Ctrl + mouse wheel to resize)

Solo campaign

Open Solo Encounters from the main window to see the world map, with a button on every zone and dungeon entrance. Hover a button for the encounter's details and reward, click it to play against the computer with your active deck.

  • Zone Gauntlet: one opponent per zone, playing that zone's 10 creatures. Elwynn Forest, Tirisfal Glades, Durotar, Mulgore and Teldrassil are open from the start, and clearing a zone opens every zone it connects to on the map. The reward is a famous friend of that zone, who strengthens its creatures.
  • Dungeons: one opponent per dungeon, playing its creatures and its boss. A dungeon opens once you clear the zone its entrance is in, and its reward is one of the dungeon's strongest denizens.
  • Boss rules: each dungeon runs under one or two special rules, shown beside the opponent's name:
    • Opening Boss: the boss starts on the battlefield
    • Head Start: the opponent starts with 2 extra Prayers
    • Reinforcements: every 3rd turn, a random creature joins the opponent's side
    • Awakening: the boss joins the battle on the opponent's 5th turn
    • Enrage: from turn 10, the opponent's creatures get +2/+0
    • Next Boss: bosses fight one after another, beat the last to win
  • Rewards: each win adds 1 copy of the reward card, up to 4. Reward cards follow the normal deck rules and can be played anywhere, including against other players.
  • Opponents get smarter as you go. Later zones and dungeons cast spells, use their abilities, block well and save removal for your best creature.
  • Zones and dungeons are fought over their own map or dungeon art (this can be turned off in Options).

Practice vs Dummy is still there for trying out a deck.

Playing against others

  1. Open the Waiting Room and click Join
  2. Everyone queued shows up in the list
  3. Click Invite to send a challenge

Both players need the addon, on the same version. If you invite someone who doesn't have it, they're sent a whisper telling them where to get it. Starting a game takes you out of the queue automatically.

Sharing cards

Show off your rare finds, or argue about a deck… right in chat.

  • With the chat box open, Shift-click any card in the Deckbuilder, on the board or in the rules guide to add it to your message
  • Players with the addon see a gold [Card Name] link. Hover it for the card's tooltip, or click it to open a preview of the card with its 3D model and how many copies you own (or how to get it)
  • Shift-click a link with the chat box open to pass it on
  • Players without the addon see plain text, e.g. [Forever CCG: Kobold Vermin]
  • Works in every chat: say, party, raid, guild, whispers and channels

Options

Open Options from the main window:

  • Sound: a master toggle, plus separate switches for creature voices, card & spell sounds, button clicks, targeting & hit sounds and the your-turn alert
  • Tooltips: set the delay before card tooltips, and extended tooltips, appear
  • Board: show or hide zone backgrounds in solo encounters

Notes

  • The Deckbuilder and Practice mode are unavailable while you're queued, and the Waiting Room is unavailable during a game.
  • Your collection (outside of final boss cards), and saved decks are per character, and saved locally. There is currently no way to sync this, much like other addon settings.
