Hides player surnames in WoW Forever. John Blizzard becomes John.
First names show in chat, on nameplates, on the target, focus, party and raid frames, in player tooltips, and in the group finder. Every link, whisper and right-click menu still uses the full name, so clicking a name always reaches the right player. /who results keep the full name, since looking someone up is the point.
Chat
Chat has four switches: guild, party & raid, world channels, and everything else. Keep first names for guildies and full names in Trade, or any mix you like. Switching one updates the chat already on screen.
Your own name
Your own last name can go too. The Your name switch hides it over your head, which works in dungeons, and on your party and raid frames, which the game's own setting misses.
Keep list
Two guildies with the same first name? Put either name on the keep list and it shows in full everywhere. A full name keeps one player whole, and a first name keeps everyone who has it.
/fnb keep John Blizzardkeeps one player's full name/fnb keep Johnkeeps every John in full/fnb unkeep Johntakes a name off the list
Works with
- Default nameplates, Platynator and Plater
- EllesmereUI: its unit frames, raid frames, nameplates and chat all show first names
Blizzard locks friendly nameplates in dungeons and raids, so they show full names there, and no addon can change that. Chat, frames and tooltips still show first names.
Whisper fix
Clicking a two-part name can whisper the wrong player: /w John Blizzard goes to John with the message "Blizzard". First Name Basis catches that and sends it to John Blizzard.
Safe on Forever
It's built for the Forever client's addon rules. It replaces nothing of Blizzard's and never touches protected names, so it stays out of the way in combat.
Type /fnb for options, or open it from the addon button by the minimap.
