FEC Chat

A lightweight native-chat companion for WoW Forever 1.60.1, with Traditional Chinese instructions and English fallback controls.

Alpha: the user preliminarily confirmed copying works. Actual Forever acceptance of the new interface and combat changes is still pending.

Features

• Capture text displayed by native chat frames, including addon diagnostics from print/AddMessage.
• Browse one account-wide history collection by channel; search literal keywords, dates and local character.
• Select whole messages with click, Ctrl and Shift, then copy through a Ctrl+A/Ctrl+C text box. Native chat has a recent-100 copy shortcut.
• Copy Unicode text in bounded chunks, with optional timestamps, channels, author and local glossary.
• Explain recognized WoW terms such as inv pls, OOM and LFM locally, while retaining the original message.
• Send a small set of built-in phrases by explicit clicks; six combat buttons and a two-second send interval.
• Probe API availability, save/readback markers and an optional LoadOnDemand SavedVariables module.

Getting started

Install the FEC_Chat folder into your Forever client’s Interface/AddOns. The FEC_Chat_ProbeData folder is optional and only tests separate SavedVariables; it is not an archive.

Use /fecchat test to print three diagnostic lines, /fecchat to select and copy them, /fecchat phrases for phrases, and /fecchat settings for capture, glossary and capacity controls. /fecchat probe, /fecchat persist and /fecchat lod support manual client verification.

Privacy and limitations

Translation runs locally. Sharing and discovery are disabled, with no chat-history synchronization. Only an explicitly invoked /fecchat ping Exact Character Name sends a diagnostic nonce to that recipient; no private history or phrase data is sent.

Default storage cap is 50,000 messages / estimated 32 MiB. Full storage pauses new capture and warns, preserving existing history. Archiving, compression, custom phrases/favorites and multiplayer phrase exchange are future milestones.

Event metadata matching is conservative: unusual client formatting may fall back to UI classification. Without stable line IDs, identical independent UI output to different frames in one tick can merge. Native layout, copy capacity, combat permissions, persistence and LoD need actual client testing.

FEC_Chat 是保留原生 WoW 操作方式的聊天輔助工具：記錄聊天與插件輸出、整則訊息單選／Ctrl 多選／Shift 範圍選取，再產生可 Ctrl+C 的文字；提供本機遊戲縮寫詞義與少量定型文。

先輸入 /fecchat test，再 /fecchat 選取三行 FEC_Raid 範例並複製。原生聊天窗右上的內建便箋圖示可直接匯出該窗最近 100 則。設定及詳細繁中說明隨安裝包提供。

目前為 Alpha，使用者初步確認複製正常；本次介面與戰鬥快捷修正仍待實機驗收。 共享預設關閉；沒有聊天歷史同步、外部翻譯或自動發送定型文。容量滿時保留舊資料並警告，停止新增。封存、長期保存實體分檔、自訂詞條與跨玩家交換尚未實作。

Alpha.5 native style and channel colors

Dark surfaces, built-in WoW dark-gold button and border materials, blue selection and built-in icon sidebars follow the reference design. History category labels/counts read the player's native chat colors and update when those settings change. Joined public channels use their current channel number; missing colors fall back safely. All messages and UI/AddOn sources stay neutral. This does not change native preferences or stored/copy text. History has a scrolling category sidebar, expandable inferred AddOn sources marked ?, date presets and collapsible advanced date/character filters. Phrasebook shows local label / outgoing English / hotkey: select a row, then use Send. Combat retains six click-to-send icons in a 190x168 panel, with passive detailed hover and a two-second interval. Settings has six navigation pages; existing module/storage/channel controls remain available. Editing, favorites, custom phrases, hotkeys, other sending languages, sharing and archives remain disabled.

All panels retain opaque backgrounds and managed stacking. Copy format and chunks are preserved. Use only /fecchat. The built-in minimap note icon opens history with left-click, phrases with right-click and settings with Shift-left-click. Game UI uses built-in WoW textures; the custom logo is only for CurseForge.

57 offline Lua 5.1 tests and fresh startup passed. Chinese/English recorded-widget layouts were inspected; they are schematic previews, not game screenshots. Actual Forever rendering, combat sending and detailed copy cases still need client validation.

繁體中文：依參考圖整理深色底、魔獸內建按鈕及邊框、藍色選取與圖示分類。左側頻道名稱與筆數自動同步內建聊天顏色，改公會／隊伍／團隊色時自動更新；公共頻道依目前編號取色，無法取得則安全退回。全部訊息及 UI／插件維持中性色，不改寫遊戲設定、歷史或複製文字。紀錄有可捲動側欄、UI／插件來源展開、日期快捷與進階篩選；來源 ? 仍屬未驗證推測。定型文列出本機語言／發送英文／快捷鍵，點列只選取，再按底部發送；戰鬥面板仍以六顆內建圖示點擊發送、移入查看說明。設定改左側六分頁，原有開關及容量設定保留。編輯、收藏、自訂、快捷鍵、其他發送語言、分享與封存先反灰。全視窗不透明、複製流程與唯一指令 /fecchat 保留。小地圖圖示左鍵開紀錄、右鍵定型文、Shift＋左鍵設定。57 項離線測試通過，遊戲外觀與本次操作仍待實測。
