FateLocked (TBC Anniversary Edition)
FateLocked is a "Hardcore" style progression challenge addon for World of Warcraft (specifically targeted at TBC/Classic clients). It fundamentally changes how you play the game by restricting your character's potential and forcing you to rely on RNG (Luck) to unlock your power.
Core Mechanics
-
The Lock: When you start, everything is locked. You cannot equip gear (in any slot), use class abilities, or learn professions without triggering a violation.
-
The Deck: The core progression system is a "Deck of Cards."
-
Earning Draws: Every time you Level Up, you gain a "Draw."
-
Unlocking: You spend Draws to pull 3 random cards from the deck and choose one. These cards unlock specific Gear Slots (e.g., "Unlock Head Slot"), Abilities (e.g., "Unlock Fireball"), or Professions.
-
The "Police" (Violation System)
The addon actively monitors your character in real-time (v20.0).
-
Gear Check: If you equip an item in a slot you haven't unlocked yet, the screen goes dark, an alarm sounds, and a "VIOLATION" warning appears.
-
Ability Check: If you cast a spell you haven't unlocked, the violation triggers.
-
Profession Check: It scans your known skills. If you learn Cooking, Fishing, First Aid, or a second Primary Profession without unlocking the card, the violation triggers.
-
Timer: A persistent "Total Violation Time" tracker records exactly how long you have spent "cheating" or playing with the addon disabled, allowing for verification of legitimate runs.
User Interface
-
Interactive 3D Model: A 3D model of your character that reflects your currently equipped gear.
-
Live Updates: Gear slots on the UI update in real-time to show the icon of the item you are actually wearing, with tooltips on hover.
-
Deck Viewer: A scrollable list allowing you to see exactly which cards are remaining in your deck.
