What's new

Azeroth Unrolled 1.3.0 Minimap imagery: the real terrain (WoW Forever)

A new round button, left of the caves button, switches the world map between Blizzard's drawn map and the game's own minimap pictures: the real terrain, from the whole world down to the deepest zoom, with the game's detailed minimap tiles once you are close. The button's picture shows the other look, and it glows while the imagery is on. Also in the map menu, on the Settings page and as /unroll imagery. Off by default. Fog of war: land you have not explored turns grey and dimmed as you zoom in on a continent, and turns to colour the moment you explore it. The sea and the capitals always stay in colour. Zone and city names stay on the map, and the sub-zones you have explored are named too. Ironforge's and Undercity's city maps still show, since they are underground; Stormwind, Orgrimmar, Darnassus and Thunder Bluff are shown by the imagery itself. The caves, Blackrock Mountain, Dalaran, dungeon entrances, doors and every map icon stay on top. Party bubbles

You and your party (in a raid, your own group) as small round portraits in the map's top left corner (on WoW Forever under the map-pin button). Hover a bubble to see the zone they are in. Click it and the map flies to them - at your zoom, or at least M's (14x) - and follows them; click it again to stop. Inside an instance the game gives no position, so there is nowhere to go. The bubble of the one followed glows; offline or dead members are greyed. /unroll bubbles, the map menu or the Settings page switch them off and on. Smooth flights

Every move the map makes by itself is now one smooth arc: it zooms out, glides across and zooms back in. That covers a bubble click, and following someone through a portal or a hearthstone, even in the middle of a zoom. They go at the Flight speed setting (Zoom > Flight speed, /unroll speed). A turn of the wheel during such a flight changes how close it lands; a drag stops it where it is and stops following. Blizzard's map switches only where the flight lands, so map icons don't reload mid-flight. Fixes

Zooming while the map follows you or a party member no longer loses them. The zoom now goes about the one you follow, who stays in the middle of the map all the way in and out (zoomed far out, as close to the middle as the map's edge allows). Zooming in from a whole continent no longer throws the view off you, a fast spin in from the whole world goes as deep as you spin (it stopped at about 5x), and a capital no longer pulls the view onto itself while you follow someone past it. In combat the game allows no map change, so following keeps the view inside the map shown, as before; a turn of the wheel now brings the one you follow back to the middle even past that map's edge, and Blizzard's own map and its pins come back there when combat ends. The zoom readout (/unroll zoom) moved to the right of the bubbles. Settings

New: "Party bubbles" and "Minimap imagery" in the map menu and on the Settings page; /unroll bubbles, /unroll imagery. "Hide these buttons" (/unroll button) hides the imagery button too. The download is larger (about 4.8 MB, up from about 1.5 MB): the minimap imagery's own overview pictures of both continents, which it shows from the whole world down to close zoom.
