What's new

Emotes now keep their narration in plain English.

An emote is narration with your character's speech quoted inside it, and only the quoted part is actually being spoken aloud:

/e holds out a flower. "I don't know if you will like it, friend."

holds out a flower. "Ah dinnae ken if ye wull like it, laddie."

Previously the whole line was accented, which read as though the narrator had the accent rather than the character. The dialect now applies only inside the quotation marks. An emote with no quotes at all is pure action, and is left completely alone.

Only the accent is restricted this way. Spelling, acronym expansion and profanity filtering still apply to narration, since typo is typo wherever it sits.

Only double quotes mark speech — apostrophes are far too common in accented text (no'dinnaeLok'tarto treat as delimiters. Curly quotes work too.
