Pining for Pet Battles

Ello Polly is a playful nod to Monty Python’s famous Dead Parrot Sketch. While pet battles have sometimes been treated as though they are “pining for the fjords,” WoW’s pet-battling community is still very much alive, collecting, battling and chasing rewards across Azeroth.

And there is certainly plenty to chase.

Saving enough Polished Pet Charms to purchase expensive pets - sometimes requiring 17,500 charms for just three pets - is an enormous grind. Add the Battle-Stones and training items needed to improve your collection, and even the most determined pet battler may begin to feel a little deceased.

Ello Polly is designed to make that grind easier.

The addon brings active pet battle quests, trainers, rewards and locations together in one place. It helps you identify the battles worth completing, filter them according to what you need and build a practical route between your chosen encounters.

This addon is not dead. It has not ceased to be. It is simply waiting by the minimap for somebody to click the parrot.

How to Use Ello Polly

Open the addon by clicking the green parrot icon beside your minimap.

You can also open it with either of these commands:

/polly
/ellopolly

Finding Pet Battles

Under Quests, choose one of the following:

• Active Daily/Weekly Quests displays pet battle quests currently available to your character.
• Show All Trainers/Battles displays the complete included trainer database, ordered by expansion.

The default selection is Active Daily/Weekly Quests.

Filtering the Results

Use the filters on the left side of the window to narrow the displayed battles.

You can filter by:

• Expansion, from Vanilla through to the latest included content.
• Reward, including Polished Pet Charms, Battle Pet Bandages, Battle-Stones and Battle-Training Stones.

Polished Pet Charm is selected by default, helping you immediately identify active battles that contribute towards the charm grind.

Use Select All or Deselect All within each section to change a complete group of filters. The Reset Filters button restores the default selections:

• Active Daily/Weekly Quests
• Polished Pet Charm

Planning a Route

Tick or untick individual results to decide which battles should be included in your route.

You can then:

• Select or deselect all displayed battles.
• Add a waypoint for an individual encounter.
• Start a route through your selected battles.
• Move manually to the next stop.
• Allow the route to advance automatically after completing a quest.
• Clear the current route and begin again.

TomTom Support

TomTom is supported but not required.

When TomTom is installed, Ello Polly uses its waypoints and Crazy Arrow for navigation.

If TomTom is not installed, the addon continues to work and uses Blizzard’s built-in waypoint system instead. All filtering, quest scanning, reward information and route-planning features remain available.

So fetch your cage, gather your stones and prepare to cross Azeroth in pursuit of tiny creatures and an unreasonable number of charms.
