DSP

DSP addon for raid teams to distribute loot.

D Sucking Points (DSP)

A social loot system for your raid group. Instead of rolling for loot you want, you pass and roll for the right to choose who gets it. Everyone who wants the item makes their case to the winner: a compliment, or a favour they promise to do. Points (DSP) keep track of who delivers.

For WoW Forever and TBC Anniversary.

How a loot round works

  1. Loot drops. Everyone with DSP gets a popup: Need, Greed or Pass (the familiar dice, coin and no-sign).
  2. Passers roll 1-100. The highest roll wins the right to choose who gets the item, and can't pick themselves. Every roll shows up in the popup as it comes in, highest first, with the leader highlighted.
  3. Need and Greed players make their case to the winner:
    • Compliment (+5 DSP if you win the item)
    • Favour: a promise to do something within a number of days you set. +10 DSP when the admin confirms you kept it, -20 if you didn't.
  4. The winner picks from a candidates panel that shows each player's portrait, their Need or Greed choice, their promise, and what they're wearing in that slot right now. Cases close when the timer ends, or as soon as everyone who chose Need or Greed has made one.
  5. Trade the item. The next item in the queue starts on its own.

Players without the addon can still /roll 1 100; it counts as a Pass.

Features

Points and accountability

  • DSP for raid attendance (prorated by minutes present), boss kills and manual awards
  • Spend DSP on an extra roll (cost and limit are configurable)
  • Commitments page: every open Favour, who owes whom and when it's due, with overdue warnings
  • Leaderboard: balances, raids attended, items received and given out, Favours kept and failed, commendations

Commendations

  • During a raid, everyone can give 3 anonymous commendations to raid mates
  • The admin can pop the commend window up for the whole raid: click a portrait, write a note, done

Built for the person running it

  • One admin per group keeps the official records; everyone else's DSP mirrors them automatically
  • Raid lead prompts: offered the chance to start a DSP session when you form a raid
  • Hand over admin: send your full records to a group member so they can run next week's raid
  • Teams: separate records for each raid team, and raiders automatically see the right team's numbers
  • Ledger with an audit trail: fix any points entry or loot record, and the old values are kept
  • Archive: old entries are never thrown away. They move to a read-only archive when lists fill up.
  • Backup and restore as a text string
  • Choose which item qualities count (Purple only by default)

Try it alone first

  • Test mode fills a sandbox with fake players who roll, make cases and give commendations, so you can learn the whole flow without a group. Your real data is never touched.

Getting started

  1. Install DSP. Everyone in the group who wants the popup needs it too.
  2. Click the coin on the minimap, or type /dsp.
  3. The raid leader or loot master turns on admin mode (/dsp admin), or accepts the prompt when forming a raid.
  4. Want to see it first? Type /dsp test and add some fake loot.

Commands

Command What it does
/dsp Open the DSP window
/dsp popup Reopen the loot popup

/dsp team [name] Open Teams, or switch to a team

Good to know

  • The admin's saved data is the official record. Other players see what the admin sends while grouped.
  • DSP only decides who gets the item. Hand it over with a normal trade.
  • Rolls are read from the admin's chat, so the admin must be grouped with the people rolling.
  • DSP warns you when someone in your group runs an older version.
  • Addon messages aren't secure, and a modified client could fake them. DSP is meant for fun among friends.
