DreadAlmanac v 2.5.2
What's new
2.5.2 (October 15, 2026)
New
- Alts: your other characters' Almanacs. Every character's Almanac is now also kept in the account-wide saved variables, so each character can see the others. A character's data goes in the first time you log in on it with this version and is refreshed whenever you play it (alts show as of the last time you played them).
- Characters screen: click your name under the title at the top of the sidebar. Your characters are listed on the left; pick one and they stand in the middle in the gear they last wore (drag to turn them), with every slot around them (hover for the item, shift-click to link it), and beside them their level, race and class, gold, played time, zone, when you last played them, kills, quests, deaths and professions. You show as you are now; an alt is drawn as their race in their gear once you've logged in on them with this version (until then their gear comes from the Almanac's gear log).
- Read any page as an alt: on the Characters screen, pick a character and press Open their Almanac. Every page then shows that character's data ("Viewing Diane" at the top, with their gold); pick yourself to switch back. Settings, Goals, Notes and the Alts page always show your own character.
- Alts page (under Character): each character's level, class, zone, gold, played time, kills, deaths, quests and when you last played them, with account totals (gold, played time, kills, quests, deaths and PvP deaths). The Items tab lists what's in every character's bags and bank, searchable.
- Item tooltips say which alts hold one: "Alts: Diane 5 + 3 bank". Bags are noted as you play; the bank as of each character's last bank visit.
- The account-wide save used to hold a second full copy of whichever character logged out last; it now holds the Alts data instead.
Changed
- PvP deaths are counted on their own. Dying to a player or in a battleground no longer prints a R.I.P. line in chat, and those deaths are left out of your death counts: the Deaths page (its summary shows PvP deaths separately and points to the PvP page, where they're listed), Tombstones, Records (Total deaths, plus a new PvP deaths line; Most embarrassing killer), the Overview (a separate PvP deaths row), the level-up recap and weekly report (PvP deaths on their own line), your worst day for dying, dungeon runs, the session count and the Journal's day write-ups and map skulls. Deaths you've already had to players are sorted out the same way.
- Goals count your bank too. A goal's progress is now what's in your bags plus what's in your bank, with an In bank column beside Have. The game only knows your bank once you've opened it, so the Almanac saves what's in the bank each time you open it, and keeps that up to date as you deposit and withdraw while it's open. Goals then count it anywhere, even after a relog. The Goals page says when the bank was last seen, or asks you to open it once if it hasn't been. Moving items between your bags and the bank doesn't set off the goal alert a second time. An item's own page in the Almanac view also says how many are in your bags and how many are in the bank.
Fixed
- Talent trees updated to the October 17 Forever talents. Class > Talents and Leveling > Talents now lay out the current trees: Elemental shaman is reshuffled (Lava Burst, Lightning Overload, Elemental Alacrity, Earthbound and others moved; Elemental Fury now needs 3 points in Lightning Overload, Lightning Overload needs 3 in Elemental Alacrity, and Elemental Mastery needs Lava Burst), Discipline priest's Mental Strength, Improved Power Word: Shield and Improved Mana Burn moved and Shadow's Improved Mind Blast and Dark Inspiration went to 5 ranks (one old Shadow talent is gone), Arcane mage has a new talent (Arcane Wrath) and Missile Barrage moved to the top row with 2 ranks, Fire's Critical Mass is 5 ranks and Combustion needs all 5, Fire Power is 3 ranks, and Affliction warlock's Grim Reach went from 5 ranks to 2. Warrior, paladin, hunter, rogue and druid are unchanged. Saved talent plans keep their other picks; points in a talent that no longer exists are dropped.
- Group > Diary said you played together with people who were nowhere near you. Being in the same party was taken to mean being together, so a group where each of you played in a different zone was written up as "You grouped up in Loch Modan with …" and "Together you killed …". Every 15 seconds the Almanac now checks which group members are in sight (about 100 yards), and where the others are. The diary counts someone as with you only if they were in sight for a fair part of the group's time. Otherwise it says so: "You were in a group with Hiken Dan for 40 minutes, but you weren't playing together: you were in Loch Modan. Hiken Dan was off in Dun Morogh." Kills split into those made with a group member in sight and those made on your own, and loot reads "You looted" when no one was with you. The Kills page's With column and the Journal's "who you were with" use the same check. Groups recorded before this fix have no record of who was near, so they read as before.
- The level-up card stayed up in combat. It now fades out within a quarter of a second when a fight starts, and its clock stops. When the fight ends it fades back in for the time it had left. If you level mid-fight, it waits until the fight is over.
- Almanac view: green and white item links were hard to read on the parchment. This client colours item links with quality tags rather than colour codes, and the book's ink pass only knew colour codes, so those links kept their bright screen colours. Quality tags are now inked too: uncommon in deep green, common in the page's ink, poor in grey, and rare, epic and legendary in deep blue, purple and orange.
