DragonflightUI & Modern SpellBook Compatibility

Fixes the conflict between DragonflightUI and Modern Spellbook for Vanilla (Wide) on WoW Classic Era, and gives the wide spellbook a DragonflightUI look.

The problem

DragonflightUI restyles the default spellbook assuming its original, narrow size. When Modern Spellbook (Wide) is installed, that restyling moves the close and minimize buttons to the wrong place.

What this addon does

• Fixes the conflict. When Modern Spellbook is loaded, DragonflightUI's own spellbook restyling steps aside. Nothing is edited in either addon: it works at runtime, so it survives updates.
• Restyles the window. The spellbook frame and its close button get the DragonflightUI look.
• Replaces the minimize button. It copies the look of DragonflightUI's own minimize button, and keeps working as it did before (minimize / maximize the book).
• Fits the paper inside the frame. Modern Spellbook's page textures no longer stick out past the window border.
• Shortens long texts. Shorter labels for the search box, the passives checkbox and the "no results" message (English, Spanish and Latin American Spanish).

Requirements

• WoW Classic Era
• DragonflightUI (tested with 0.50.1)
• Modern Spellbook for Vanilla (Wide) (tested with 1.5.2)

All three must be installed and enabled.

Installation

1. Download the latest file.
2. Extract the DFUI_ModernSpellBook folder into World of Warcraft\_classic_era_\Interface\AddOns.
3. Restart the game or type /reload.

Fine-tuning

If something sits a few pixels off on your setup, adjust it in game:

• /dfmsb shows the current values
• /dfmsb pad L R B margin of the paper (left, right, bottom)
• /dfmsb min X Y position of the minimize button
• /dfmsb size N size of the minimize button (0 = native)
• /dfmsb debug toggles debug messages

Changes made in game are not saved between sessions. To make them permanent, copy the values into the cfg table at the top of DFUI_ModernSpellBook.lua. Set shortText = false there to keep Modern Spellbook's original texts.

Known limitations

• The spellbook tabs and the dark window background keep their original look.
• Shorter texts exist only for enUS, esES and esMX.
• Made and tested for Classic Era only.

Troubleshooting

If the buttons are misplaced or you get Lua errors, enable error display with /console scriptErrors 1, reproduce the problem and report the full message.

Development note

This addon was developed with the help of AI (Claude, by Anthropic). I directed the design and tested every behavior in game, but bugs may still exist. Reports are welcome.
