DoINeedThis

DoINeedThis is an inventory decision assistant for World of Warcraft Retail. It scans the items in your bags, character bank, and Warband bank, then explains what each item may be used for and whether you should keep, sell, auction, or review it.

Every recommendation includes supporting information so you can make the final decision. DoINeedThis never automatically sells or deletes your items.

Features

• Scan your bags, character bank, and Warband bank
• Filter the list by Bags, Bank, Warband, or All storage
• See how many copies you own and where they are stored
• Classify items as:
  • Keep
  • Crafting
  • Optional
  • Sell
  • Vendor
  • Review
  • Unknown
• View reasons, evidence, confidence, and disposal-safety information
• Identify an item’s expansion when that information is available
• Detect quest items and indicate whether the related quest is currently active
• Check collected appearances, toys, pets, and mounts
• Compare equippable items with your currently equipped gear
• Identify known profession recipes that use an item
• Display Auctionator or TradeSkillMaster pricing when supported pricing data is available
• Add DoINeedThis information directly to normal item tooltips
• Remember inventory information across characters
• Apply manual overrides such as Always Keep or Mark Sell
• Open the addon from its minimap button

Item Recommendations

DoINeedThis combines information provided by the World of Warcraft API with item type, quality, binding status, quest status, expansion, profession relevance, collection status, equipment comparison, vendor value, and optional pricing information.

The addon remains deliberately cautious. When the available information is insufficient to make a reliable recommendation, the item is marked for review instead of being treated as disposable.

Tooltip Integration

Hover over an item in your bags, bank, inventory links, or the DoINeedThis window to see its recommendation and supporting details in the standard game tooltip.

The tooltip may include:

• Recommended action
• Confidence level
• Reason for the recommendation
• Expansion
• Quest status
• Collection status
• Equipment comparison
• Profession and recipe relevance
• Vendor or auction value
• Amount owned across known storage locations

Auction House Pricing

DoINeedThis can use pricing information supplied by supported addons such as:

• Auctionator
• TradeSkillMaster

Pricing addons are optional. DoINeedThis continues to work without them, but auction-related recommendations may contain less information.

Bank and Warband Data

World of Warcraft only makes some storage information available while the corresponding bank is open. Visit your character bank and Warband bank after installing the addon so DoINeedThis can scan and remember their contents.

Use Scan Now whenever you want to refresh the information currently available to the addon.

Commands

• /dint — Open or close the DoINeedThis window
• /dint scan — Scan available inventory locations
• /dint debug — Display the latest captured addon error and diagnostic information

You can also open the addon by clicking the DoINeedThis minimap icon.

Important

Recommendations are advisory. Some World of Warcraft items have special, hidden, temporary, or undocumented uses that the game API does not expose.

Before deleting a rare, unique, quest-related, or otherwise unfamiliar item, confirm its purpose. DoINeedThis will never automatically delete, destroy, sell, or move your items.

• What recommendation was shown
• What you expected to see
• Any error reported by /dint debug
