How to Install & Use Custom Sounds

  1. Place Your Sound Files: Drop your .ogg or .mp3 sound files into the DingChats\sounds\ folder located in your WoW Interface\AddOns\ directory.

  2. Add to List: Open the DingChats.lua file (located in DingChats\DingChats.lua) with a text editor.

  3. Edit customSounds: Find the local customSounds = { ... } section near the top of the file and add your sound filenames (e.g., "my_awesome_sound.ogg",). Remember to include the quotes and the comma!

  4. Reload UI: Type /reload in game or restart WoW.

  5. Assign in-game: Go to Game Menu (ESC) > Options > AddOns > Ding Chats and select your newly added sounds from the dropdown menus for your desired chat events.

Installation

  1. Download the latest version of Ding Chats

  2. Extract the contents of the .zip file into your World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\AddOns\ folder.

  3. Ensure the folder structure is \AddOns\DingChats\ with DingChats.toc, DingChats.lua, Localization.lua, and the sounds folder inside.

  4. Restart World of Warcraft or type /reload in-game.
