Description

Death Grip Guard

Death Grip Guard (DGG) is a lightweight PvP workaround for Death Grip bugs affecting Death Knights.

It was created to address situations where Blizzard's Death Grip cooldown and immunity behavior can be misleading during PvP, giving you incorrect information about when Death Grip can actually be used again.

Features

Blood

Tracks the three-Grip rule against enemy players and warns you before a target becomes immune.

  • Tracks Death Grip usage per player target.
  • Warns if the next grip is risky or safe to use after the immunity is over.
  • Displays the 30-second immunity window after repeated grips.
  • Provides optional sounds for risky and safe states.
  • Keeps tracking targets independently.

Frost & Unholy

Provides a World-PvP readiness overlay for Death Grip when WoW can incorrectly show the spell as ready before it can actually be used.

  • Tracks Death Grip charges independently
  • Shows a countdown while Death Grip is unavailable
  • Automatically hides when a charge becomes available
  • Only displays the readiness overlay when targeting a player in World-PvP

Configuration

DGG includes a simple addon settings panel for:

  • Frame position
  • Frame scale
  • Frame locking
  • UI visibility
  • Warning and ready sounds

You can also call the settings panel with /dgg

Important Notes

DGG is an informational PvP glitches workaround. It does not modify or fix Blizzard's underlying Death Grip mechanics.

The addon is designed specifically for the PvP situations described above.

Tracking data is session-based and is reset after reloading the UI, logging out, or changing specialization.

Future Updates

DGG is built around the current Death Grip behavior and may be updated if Blizzard changes or fixes the underlying mechanics.

If Blizzard resolves the current PvP bugs, the addon will be adapted where appropriate to remain useful. For example, if the intended 30-second Death Grip window becomes consistent, the Blood functionality can continue as a practical alert showing when it is safe to Grip a target again.

If the underlying issues are fully resolved and no useful functionality remains, DGG may eventually be retired.
