What's new

### Darkmoon Arcade 1.4.0 – Quests & Dungeons Mercenaries gets its biggest update yet: tasks and stories for every mercenary, every Classic dungeon plus four of WoW Forever's own, real loot, enchanting and a fourth rank. And the arcade itself has a new launcher and now runs on retail too. #### Mercenaries: quests and dungeons * **Tasks and stories:** task chains for all 24 mercenaries, close to their lore – fight in a zone, use an ability, beat a boss, clear a dungeon. Progress runs along as you play; hand in finished steps at the task board by the campfire for coins. Some chains reveal a dungeon's hidden boss, and new chains open once you have cleared certain dungeons * **Dungeons:** every Classic dungeon from Ragefire Chasm to Stratholme, and four of WoW Forever's own: the Hall of Thanes, the Ruins of Lordaeron, the Excavation Site in the Wetlands and the City of Dalaran. Their entrances lie on the travel map; zoom into the zone. Level ranges follow WoW Forever * A fixed path where every boss must fall, with trash fights between them and a spirit healer only before the last boss – harder than bounties * Wings behind one entrance, as in the game: the Scarlet Monastery, Maraudon, Dire Maul and Stratholme – the arrows in the panel switch between them * **Hidden bosses** (e.g. Mutanus the Devourer, Baron Aquanis, the Avatar of Hakkar, Death Knight Darkreaver) wait on a side branch that a task opens; **rare bosses** show up only now and then * Every boss drops loot: bosses that had none of their own in Classic (e.g. Bazil Thredd) share a few items of their dungeon * Normal and heroic; the **adventure guide** lists every boss with its loot and the chance of each item before you enter * **Items:** the real Classic and WoW Forever loot with its drop chances. You choose which mercenary gets each find; it stays with that mercenary for good. A weapon slot and an armour slot, and a jewellery slot at level 60. Items give small bonuses on purpose (a full set wins about one bounty in twenty more), so the balance holds * **Enchanting:** disenchant items you do not need into Classic's enchanting materials, and enchant with formulas found as loot. Materials and formulas live at the workshop (the map table in the camp); the strongest formulas need the materials of the hardest content * **Rank IV:** every ability can rise to a fourth rank – for 150 coins and a dungeon of the mercenary's own story, cleared with it in the party. The button's tooltip names the dungeon * **Heroic retuned:** heroic bounties and dungeons are now the challenge for parties with ranks, dungeon items and enchants. Without them heroic is much harder than before – gear up in the dungeons first * The handbook has two new chapters, "Tasks and dungeons" and "Items and enchanting"; the roadmap marks "Tasks, stories and dungeons" as done – raids are next #### Mercenaries: more * **A new camp:** your party sits round the campfire, and the camp's places lead on – as in Hearthstone: the tavern wagon holds your mercenaries, the training ground is the travel point, the fighting pit has the highscores, the mailbox the roadmap, the task board by the fire the tasks, the map table the workshop and the book the help. Each place shows its name when the camp opens and under the mouse * **Spell effects in battle:** fireballs, frostbolts, lightning, shadow bolts and arcane missiles fly from caster to target; hits, bursts, heals, shields, taunts, stuns and buffs show the game's own spell effects. Options > Mercenaries > Spell effects in battle turns them off * **Levels matter more:** foes above your level miss less, hit harder and take less damage; a regular fight four levels up is now a real risk. All zones retuned * **New role gems** on tabs, cards and portraits, grey for mercenaries not yet recruited, with a gold fighter gem for the colour-blind option * The "!" markers show when a mercenary can rank up an ability or hand in a task, on the role tabs and on the mercenary's card too * Achievements are now found at the foot of the game's sidebar and on the task board * **New buttons** in Mercenaries, with their own looks for hover, press and disabled; the selected continent and difficulty glow gold * "Back" is now always on the left and the next step on the right; "Back to the continent" sits on the map itself * Mercenaries fills the whole window #### Darkmoon Arcade * **Now on retail too:** the arcade runs on WoW: Forever and on retail. Mercenaries plays the same on both; on retail it shows retail's maps and creature models * **A new launcher:** a calm, modern window with the games in a navigation on the left. On the start page, "Discover", Mercenaries is in the spotlight with your progress, and below it the most recently updated games * **Favorites:** mark games with the star and find them under Favorites; "All games" lists every game * **Navigation while playing:** in a game the navigation shrinks to its icons and opens when you rest the mouse on it, so every game is one click away * **The bell** shows your latest achievements from all games, with a badge counting the new ones * **Flights** can now open a chosen game, your favorites, or the game you played last (Options > Flights) * **What's new keeps a history:** every version from 1.3.0 on, missed updates are marked; after an update the window opens on this page * **Statistics** for the arcade, Mercenaries and every minigame, with play time per game; "Game statistics" in the spotlight leads there * **Options** sorted into categories: General, Window, Sound, Flights, Mercenaries, Minigames * **See-through while moving** (Options > Window): the window fades while you walk or ride, so it can stay open; fully visible under the mouse and on flights * **Minimap button:** left-click opens the launcher, right-click a menu with What's new, Statistics and Options * **New logo and icon,** drawn by hand #### Minigames * The minigames are scaled up to the window's height; Help and Achievements sit at the foot of each game's sidebar Ideas, wishes or bugs?
