# Cutthroat
**Combo point pips and a Slice and Dice timer that actually works in combat — built for WoW Forever.**
WoW Forever hides combat data from addons. Combo points come back as "secret" values that addons can't read, and buffs can't be looked up at all while you're fighting. That's why the usual WeakAuras and combo-point addons don't work here.
Cutthroat stays inside those rules instead of fighting them. It never reads your combo points or your buffs in combat — and it still shows you both.
## Features
- **Combo point pips** — pips appear one at a time as you earn combo points, and nothing shows at zero. Pips four and five change color so a full bar is obvious at a glance.
- **Pick your pip shape** — square, circle, diamond, triangle or star.
- **Slice and Dice timer** — a countdown bar that starts the instant you cast, runs the whole fight, and shows the seconds left.
- **Expiry warning** — the bar turns red and pulses for the last 5 seconds so you know to refresh.
- **Talent-aware** — learns your Improved Slice and Dice bonus automatically the first time it sees the buff out of combat.
- **Move it, lock it, size it** — drag it anywhere, lock it in place (clicks pass straight through once locked), and scale it from 0.5× to 3×.
- **Settings panel** — type `/cut` to open it. Escape closes it.
- **Per-character settings** — each rogue keeps their own position and lock.
## Commands
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
| `/cut` or `/cutthroat` | Open the settings panel |
| `/cut lock` / `/cut unlock` | Lock or unlock the bar |
| `/cut scale 1.5` | Resize (0.5 – 3) |
| `/cut reset` | Move it back to the middle of the screen |
| `/cut shape star` | Change pip shape (square, circle, diamond, triangle, star) |
## How it works
For the curious: combo points can't be read, but they *can* be handed to a status bar, and the game engine does the displaying. Each pip is its own bar that is either fully drawn or not drawn at all depending on your combo points — no addon code ever looks at the number.
The Slice and Dice timer uses the same trick. The moment you cast it, Cutthroat starts one countdown for every possible combo point count, and lets your (hidden) combo points decide which one is visible. Out of combat, when buffs can be read again, it re-syncs to the real buff.
## Known limitations
- Built and tested on WoW Forever (client 1.60.1). It relies on how that client handles hidden combat data; a future beta build could change the rules.
- Tested with Slice and Dice rank 1. Rank 2 is supported but hasn't been tested yet.
- The first Slice and Dice after installing may be a little short until Cutthroat has seen the buff once out of combat and learned your talent bonus.
