Description

Critter Charge

For warriors who'd rather Charge than walk.

Every warrior knows the trick: charge a critter to get across the zone faster. The hard part is finding one in time. Critter Charge does that for you. It finds a nearby critter, targets it and marks it, so a quick press of your Charge button keeps you moving.

And in case the raid marker is hard to spot in tall grass or a busy zone, there's now an arrow that points you right to it.

How it works

Critter Charge replaces the Charge on your action bar with a single smart macro. It's created and placed for you automatically the first time you log in on a warrior.

  • No target, out of combat: press it to select and mark the nearest critter.
  • Critter in range: press it again to Charge.
  • Mob targeted: it's just your normal Charge. The addon never overrides a target you chose yourself.
  • Dead critter targeted: press it to drop the corpse and move on to the next critter, or to dismiss the arrow if there's nothing left nearby.

If you ever disable the addon, the macro still works as a plain Charge, so your action bar keeps working.

The arrow

The arrow shows the way, with the critter's name and distance underneath. Its colour tells you what's going on:

  • Orange: heading toward the most likely spawn point (from a built-in database of about 2,600 critter spawns)
  • Yellow: critter in view, and the arrow points right at it
  • Green: in Charge range, go!
  • Red: dead critter targeted, press to dismiss

It also warns you when you're TOO CLOSE to Charge (under 8 yards).

Stays out of your way

  • Warriors only: it does nothing on your other characters
  • Hidden in combat, while Charge is on cooldown, and whenever you have a mob targeted
  • Only marks critters the macro selected, so it won't interfere with your group's raid marks
  • Critters you've killed are skipped until they respawn (5 minutes), so you won't be sent back to a corpse

Settings

Open with /critter or via Options → AddOns → Critter Charge:

  • Detection range (20–100 yards, default 50)
  • Raid marker to use (default: Square, or none)
  • Arrow size and text size
  • Arrow position, or just hold Shift and drag the arrow anywhere

Commands

Command What it does
/critter Open settings
/critter bar Put the macro on your bar where Charge is
/critter macro Recreate the macro and put it on your cursor
/critter reset Reset arrow size and position
/critter toggle Turn the addon on or off (the macro becomes a plain Charge)
/critter forget Clear the killed-critter cooldowns

Tips

  • Turn on enemy nameplates (default key: V). Critters with a visible nameplate are tracked exactly, not by spawn point.
  • The macro needs one free character-specific macro slot.
