Crit Sounds by Raze
Make critical moments louder with random custom MP3 sounds in World of Warcraft Retail. Crit Sounds by Raze plays one enabled registered sound for supported critical hits and heals, with an optional best-effort critical-kill mode.
Features
- Random playback from every enabled registered MP3
- Configurable WoW sound channel and playback delay
- Optional Crit Kills Only (Best Effort) mode
- Beginner-friendly instructions in Settings and the README
Quick setup
- Install the addon and start WoW Retail.
- Open Options → AddOns → Crit Sounds by Raze.
- Enable the MP3 files you want to hear.
- Click Play Test Sound.
To add audio, copy an MP3 directly into the addon's Sounds folder, type /csbr add your filename, and then type /reload. The .mp3 ending is optional. WoW cannot scan an addon folder for arbitrary filenames, so every custom file must be registered before a reload or restart can add it to Settings.
Use /csbr remove filename to unregister a custom file, /csbr help to print the full guide, or /csbr to open Settings.
Supported events and limitations
WoW Retail 12.x restricts the unrestricted combat log. This addon uses the permitted UNIT_COMBAT event and supports critical damage reported on your current hostile target plus critical healing reported on yourself or your current friendly target.
Crit Kills Only (Best Effort) waits for a critical wound against your current hostile target to be followed by that target dying within half a second. The available event does not identify the source actor or killing-blow owner, so this mode is most reliable while solo. Around other players, their critical hit or final hit can be mistaken for yours.
WoW's custom-file playback function has no independent per-file volume argument. Sounds follow the selected WoW sound channel and its normal Audio volume control.
