Player-friendly release notes for Craft Alert.
[Unreleased]
[1.0.0] - 2026-10-30
- First release. Craft Alert watches chat for people asking for something one of your characters can craft and lets you greet them with one click. One folder works on Retail, WoW: Forever and the Classic flavors (Era, TBC Anniversary, Wrath, Cata, Mists of Pandaria).
- Open each profession window once and Craft Alert knows that character's recipes, across every character on the account. On Era and TBC that includes Enchanting's craft window.
- Recipes from older expansions start muted: Craft Alert alerts only for the newest expansion's recipes of each profession, and when you first open a profession after a new expansion it switches to that one (your own mutes for that profession are replaced, and a chat line says so). "Only <expansion>" on the Crafters page does the same on demand.
- A recipe you learn while playing matches right away. On Classic it matches by name until you next open its profession window, which stores it for good.
- Reading profession windows and building the recipe list happen in the background, a little each frame, without stalling the game.
- Craft Alert listens in Trade and Services by default; General, LookingForGroup, Guild and Communities can be turned on where the game has them. "Only where Trade chat exists" keeps it listening wherever you have the Trade channel.
- Requests are matched by item and recipe links, written item names, slot and armor words ("LF plate belt"), and profession words ("LF enchanter", "bs", "jc", "jewelcraft", "leatherwork", "insc"). A line needs a request word: LF, LFC, LFRC, WTB, WTC, need, looking, anyone and a few more by default. Edit the request words and add your own slang in Settings → Keywords.
- "Recraft", "recrafter" and "recrafting" work like "crafter", "leg" works like "legs", "off hand" and "off-hand" name the off hand, and "enchs" names Enchanting.
- A line that names two slots matches either one.
- A request that names a slot without an armor type ("LF belt", "LF head crafter") uses the asker's class, enchant requests excepted: a warrior's request alerts only for plate, a mage's only for cloth. On Forever and Classic the class is read as max level (a level 30 hunter counts as mail).
- A bare "LF crafter" alerts the profession that makes the asker's armor: Blacksmithing for plate, Leatherworking for mail and leather, Tailoring for cloth. It needs profession-word alerts on, and only works for a line that names nothing else: "LF crafter for flask" or "LF crafter, ring" makes no armor guess.
- Ads are left alone: lines with WTS, LFW or "selling", lines with "/w me" but none of LF, LFC, LFRC, WTB or WTC, and "LF work" (but not "LF work order") make no alert. "Trinket" on its own picks no profession; name the trinket instead.
- A toast pops up beside the launcher, on the side facing the middle of the screen, when someone asks for something you can craft. It says what they want and which of your characters can craft it (an alt by name, in its class colour), shows their whole message with item and recipe links you can hover, and what matched in its tooltip. Left-click to greet them, shift-click to edit the greeting first, ctrl-click for an empty whisper, right-click to dismiss; a click on a link only opens the link. A newer request replaces the shown one and counts "+N more". Dragging the toast moves the launcher.
- The launcher, a ring with your profession's icon (a bell when Craft Alert knows none yet), opens the leads window and shows, in a gold badge on its ring, how many leads you have not looked at or greeted. It glows when you hover it and pulses when a new lead arrives. It is lit while Craft Alert is listening and dim while it is paused; hover it to see why. It can hide itself while there are no leads.
- The leads window lists every open request on the left, newest first: the customer in their class colour, how long ago they asked, what they want, a dot for leads you have not looked at, and a check once greeted. Left-click a lead to see it, right-click to dismiss it; hover it for the customer's latest chat line. "Clear all" over the list dismisses every lead at once.
- The right side shows the selected lead in full: the customer, their class, channel and time, what they want, their message with hoverable links, what matched, which of your characters can craft it (in class colour, with its quality rank), whether they are on a realm you can't send a crafting order to, and the greeting that will be sent. Greet, Whisper and Dismiss buttons sit at the bottom; shift-click Greet to edit the greeting first.
- Your main crafter for a profession wins ties over the character you're playing. Choose it from a lead: left-click its crafters.
- The top of the leads list counts today's requests seen, greeted and replied to (and, on Retail, orders filled); hover it for the last 7 days. On Retail, filling a crafting order for someone you greeted in the last day counts as an order filled.
- Back from AFK, one toast says how many requests you could craft came in while you were away and how many of them expired. Left-click it to open the leads, right-click to dismiss it.
- Drag the leads window, resize it from its corner (an outline shows the new size until you let go), and close it with Escape. It keeps one size for the leads and the settings, at least 720×420.
- With WhisperMessenger installed, Craft Alert moves into it: the leads get their own tab with a count of unseen leads, the toast shows as WhisperMessenger's preview with the customer's chat line and which of your characters can craft it, greetings open as WhisperMessenger conversations, and each customer's conversation shows a line about their request. In its Craft Alert panel, a lead's dot turns pink while its customer has a whisper you have not read.
- Key bindings (under Craft Alert): greet the latest lead, dismiss it, show or hide the leads window.
- Settings open with the gear on the leads window's title bar (it turns into a back arrow) or
/ca config. General: turn Craft Alert, each channel and profession-word alerts on or off. Alerts: alert sound, taskbar flash, toast time, lead timeout, hiding the launcher and window opacity. Greetings: edit the four greetings with a live preview and a note per profession. Keywords: request words and extra slang. Test: try a trade line. - Settings → Crafters: turn your characters on or off or remove them, pick a main crafter per profession, choose whether unbound items (materials, potions, gems) count, and mute single recipes or all of them at once. Recipes show in their item's rarity colour, can be searched and narrowed to the current expansion, and hovering one shows its profession, which of your characters know it, and whether it is muted.
- On Retail and Forever, each recipe you know in your own profession window has Craft Alert's speaker at its right end: click it to mute or unmute alerts for that recipe and all its ranks without selecting the row. "Bell markers on recipe rows" in Settings → General turns the speakers off.
- On the Classic flavors the speaker sits on each recipe Craft Alert knows in your own profession window, and on Era and TBC in Enchanting's craft window too. A click mutes or unmutes that recipe without selecting the row, and the same setting turns the speakers off.
- Settings → Linked accounts: copy this account's crafters as one string and paste it into Craft Alert on your other Battle.net account, so leads there can name the crafters you have here. Importing again updates them and keeps your choices for them; the page lists the characters you imported and when.
- On Retail, if CraftScan is installed, Craft Alert offers once at login to bring over this account's CraftScan characters, recipes (the ones CraftScan isn't scanning come in muted) and greetings. What Craft Alert already has stays as it is. Settings → Linked accounts has the same import as a button.
- Slash commands:
/cashows or hides the leads window,/ca configopens the settings,/ca test <a trade line>tries a trade line (see below), and/ca perftimes the chat scan and reports every minute until you run it again. /ca test <a trade line>sends the line through the real path, prints what matched, why, who would answer and the greeting, and makes a real test lead (customerTest0, orTest1toTest6withx<N>), so you can try the toast, clicks and keybinds alone. It works only where a real Trade line would (where Trade chat exists, Trade on). Greetings and whispers are dry runs: they print "Test, would ..." and send nothing.as <class>sets the test customer's class (/ca test as warrior LF belt; your own class when you name none), and/ca test replyfakes the customer's reply. Test leads are dropped at your next login or/reload.- Craft Alert starts by itself when you log in: one chat line says whether it is listening (and in which channels) or why it is paused, another names the professions you still need to open once, and a first install suggests a
/ca testline to try. - It never whispers on its own: every greeting comes from your click or key binding. When you are AFK, greet more than six times in a minute, greet the same lead twice or click a lead that just appeared, the greeting opens in the chat box for you to send instead.
- Ignoring someone removes their open leads, also the ones saved from your last session, and their later requests make none.
- Craft Alert turns itself off in any instance (dungeons, raids, battlegrounds, arenas, delves): no scanning, no alerts, the launcher, toast and leads window are hidden, and
/caand the key bindings only print "Off in instances; it works again when you leave." In WhisperMessenger, Craft Alert's panel goes from its settings back to the leads as you enter, and the gear won't open the settings there. It comes back when you leave. - Craft Alert uses its own tooltip and stays out of Blizzard's frames, so Mythic+ "execution tainted by 'CraftAlert'" errors aren't blamed on it.
