CommunicationTools Forever
A communication toolbox for World of Warcraft: Forever, for every class. Open /ct or right-click ordinary text or blank space in chat. Each tool has an enable checkbox and its own Configure page, inspired by HunterTools Forever.
New in this release
- Buff Thanks: thank another player using their full character name and the buff they gave you. Choose automatic whispers or click-to-send /say. Configure up to four messages using
<buffname>and<buffername>; a nonblank entry is selected randomly each time. - Extended Ignore: hide incoming character chat and whispers from a saved blacklist. Ctrl+Shift+left-click a linked chat name to add it, or enter a full name in settings. Optional editable ignore notifications are limited to once per sender per minute.
- Do Not Disturb: configurable whisper auto-response, optional relay of incoming whispers to another player, or referral telling the sender whom to contact. Includes optional incoming-whisper hiding and automatic-response loop protection.
- Name Alerts: match your full name, first name, or surname in selected chat types. Choose whole-word or substring matching, sound, and a channel-aware banner. Banners last twelve seconds, have a close button, and can be suppressed in combat.
- Vintage radio-and-microphone artwork, separate tool settings pages, and account-wide saved preferences.
Fixes and compatibility
Preserves Forever surnames in blacklist entries, whisper recipients and thank-you text. Whisper addresses use full character names without realm suffixes. Buff Thanks skips your own casts but allows buffs you can cast yourself. Existing login/reload buffs do not trigger thanks: startup events are ignored for five seconds, and older or undated buffs are skipped. Restricted aura enumeration is not used.
Install and configure
Extract CommunicationToolsForever into the Forever client’s Interface/AddOns folder. The .toc file must be directly inside the addon folder. Fully restart the client for a new installation, then open /ct. Replace existing files when updating. Remove any older development addon folder named ForeverCommunications so only one copy runs.
Buff Thanks, Extended Ignore and Name Alerts start enabled. Do Not Disturb starts disabled. All tools can be toggled independently.
Beta limits and testing
This initial beta targets Forever 1.60.1, interface 16001. Forever may restrict aura, caster or whisper data; actions requiring unavailable data are skipped. Permanent/undated buffs do not generate thanks. /say needs a click. Character whispers are supported; Battle.net account chat is not. Blizzard chat restrictions still apply.
Extended Ignore filters local chat display; it does not change Blizzard’s ignore list or hide chat bubbles. Native ignores may prevent whisper events from reaching the addon, so notifications may not be possible. DND does not change native /dnd status. Automatic replies have cooldowns and rate limits.
In-game feedback confirmed buff thanks, including paladin buffs after surname fixes, blacklist filtering, and Ctrl+Shift-click additions. Newer tools, the four-message pool, layout and combat options have automated regression coverage and need broader in-game testing.
If a feature does not work, please report the addon version, tool, steps taken and any BugSack error. /ct diagnosis shows recent buff decisions; /ct debug on enables local live diagnostics.
