What's new

Comms Station 0.20.2 — Changes since 0.15.4

Communication modes and saved sets

  • Added Raid and Whisper modes.
  • Unified Dungeon, Raid, Say, Whisper and Yell around the same workbench layout.
  • Each mode now has its own Global callouts and named sets containing callouts, targets and private notes.
  • Create separate sets for different activities, encounters or roleplay situations.
  • Alphabetized the mode selector.
  • Raid callouts send to your raid group without using raid warnings.

Whisper support

  • Whisper callouts default to your currently selected player.
  • Added saved recipient names per profile for messaging a specific player instead.
  • Displays the active recipient on the bar.
  • Returns to Whisper Target after reload or profile changes.
  • Prevents accidental sends when the selected target changes during a click.
  • Supports Forever’s first- and last-name system.

Targets

  • Added a compact target-entry window that works without opening the workbench.
  • Added “Add selected” to save the currently selected player or NPC to the active set.
  • Automatically fills target names and checks for duplicates.
  • Made saved targets available in every communication mode.
  • Preserved combat-safe updates for protected targeting buttons.

Callout icons

  • Added Text or Icon display options for individual callouts.
  • Supports mixed text and compact icon buttons on the same bar.
  • Added browsing of the client’s macro-icon catalog in native order, with ten columns, mouse-wheel scrolling and a scrollbar.
  • Uses a reusable icon grid instead of creating a button for every available icon.
  • Fixed icon selection and window-layering issues.
  • Existing callouts remain text unless changed.

Workbench and notes

  • Added corner resizing to the workbench, with editing sections expanding together.
  • Added resizable Notes with text wrapping.
  • Remembers window sizes per profile and Notes reading positions.
  • Added clear up/down arrows to reorder individual callouts, targets and Emotes without rewriting entries.
  • Set and dungeon dropdowns now match their selector’s width.

HUD and appearance

  • Added channel-colored callouts and mode selection: Party blue, Say white, Yell red, Raid orange and Whisper pink.
  • Kept Global callouts yellow/gold.
  • Replaced Extras labels with compact Notes, Targets, Emotes, Marks and settings icons.
  • Made bar backgrounds and gaps draggable, with additional grab space.
  • Improved Targets and Marks layering above the main HUD.
  • Replaced the clear-mark X with a distinct minus button; the red X closes the Marks bar.

Emotes and tooltips

  • Renamed Actions to Emotes.
  • Improved Emotes ordering controls and remembered scroll positions.
  • Added tooltip size and background-opacity options per profile.
  • Tooltips now follow the cursor and stay within screen bounds.
  • Retained the option to disable tooltips.

Performance and reliability

  • Reduced repeated work during scrolling, resizing and mode changes.
  • Avoided rebuilding hidden workbench lists until reopened.
  • Reused filtering results and visible rows in the Emotes browser.
  • Reduced target preparation to the displayed page.
  • Removed redundant profile-data copies while retaining recovery backups.
  • Expanded regression coverage for saved data, combat restrictions, stale clicks, layout and mouse selection.

Important upgrade notes

  • Back up CommsStation.lua and its .bak file in your account’s SavedVariables folder while WoW is closed.
  • Existing data is migrated; older flat chat callouts move into General sets. Do not delete saved data for a routine update.
  • Rolling back requires both the previous addon files and the pre-upgrade saved-data backup.
  • Previously captured incorrect hyphenated Forever names must be edited or removed and added again.
