First public cut. Scrolling combat text that stays readable under the secret-value API, built on Blizzard's sanctioned C_CombatText pipeline - no combat log reads, no restriction workarounds.
- Two streams: your damage and gains rise on the right, damage taken and harmful effects on the left
- First hit renders instantly; repeats inside half a second grow the same line in place (340 becomes 1020 x3)
- Crits render larger with a pop, in their own color
- Heals, absorbs, resists, misses, honor, combo points, low health/mana alerts, aura gains and fades, combat enter/leave
- Position the streams once; the position persists across sessions
- Every API call is guarded: if the beta changes a signature under it, it degrades to silence rather than erroring mid-fight
Runs on the WoW Forever beta (16001) and Midnight retail (12.1.0 and 12.1.5). On clients without C_CombatText it stays inert.
Honest limit: C_CombatText hands over numbers, types and crits, not spell identifiers, so per-spell icons are not currently possible the way they were before Midnight. If that changes, icons ship.
From the author of wow-secret-lint (which tells addon developers which calls go dark) and WhyHidden (which tells players what is hidden right now). This is the third side of the same idea: making what is not hidden readable again.
