Description

Never miss a friend in passing! Chum Chimes plays a friendly little chime when one of your guildies or friends is in the same zone as you, and a different one when they're right near you. Say hi, group up, wave as you pass, or strike up some impromptu RP!

Works in Retail and WoW Forever.

Features

• "In my zone" chime. When a guildie or friend is in the same zone as you, you get a chime and a line in chat, like "Tom just showed up in Silvermoon City!" It works both ways: they arrive, or you do.
• "Right near me" chime. A different sound when one of them is close by, or when you mouse over or target them: "Psst! Tom is right by you!" You choose how close counts: Close (about 28 yards), Very close (about 10 yards), or as soon as their nameplate shows.
• One summary when you arrive somewhere busy. Zone into a city full of guildies and you get one line and one chime, not a dozen: "Your chums in Stormwind: Tom, Johnny, Nathan, and 3 more!"
• No spam. Each person chimes once, then stays quiet for 10 minutes. Change that to anything from 1 to 60 minutes.
• Guild, WoW friends and Battle.net friends. Each one has its own on/off switch.
• Clickable names. Click a name in chat to whisper them right away.
• Knows when to hush. Stays quiet in dungeons, raids, delves and battlegrounds, and skips people already in your group.
• Pick your sounds. Choose a different sound for each kind of chime, or none at all.
• Light as a feather. It only wakes up when the game says something changed. Two small exceptions: a "where is everyone?" request every 2 minutes for guild and friends zones (you can turn it off), and a once-a-second check on just one chum while they're walking toward you.

Tip: turn on friendly nameplates (Shift-V) so Chum Chimes notices the moment a chum walks up. Mouseover and target chimes work either way.

Commands

• /chum : open settings
• /chum test : hear and see a test "in my zone" chime
• /chum test near : hear and see a test "right near me" chime
• /chum test summary : see a test summary line
• /chum who : list the chums in your zone right now
• /chum plates : turn on friendly nameplates
• /chum on / /chum off : turn all chimes on or off
• Minimap button and addon compartment: left-click for settings, right-click to hear the test chimes

Settings

Find them under Options → AddOns → NerdyBertie → Chum Chimes: who to chime for, when to chime, how close counts as "right near me," the sound for each kind of chime, the on-screen line, the quiet time between chimes, the minimap button, and test buttons for everything.
