Campfire Tales Forever

Every adventurer has a story. Now yours tells it.

Campfire Tales Forever brings roleplay emotes to the quiet moments in World of Warcraft: Forever. Sit by a campfire and your character shares a story, a boast, a rumour or a memory, as a normal /emote everyone nearby can see. It also covers tavern talk at the inn, fishing, flights, level ups, close calls and more.

Over 700 hand-written tales, told in your character's own voice.

🔥 Your character, your voice

On the Your character page, you choose who's telling the tales. Each character has its own settings.

• Personality
  • Bold (the default): boasts by the fire and laughs off a close call.
  • Cheerful: turns a bad day into a good story.
  • Wise: always has a proverb ready.
  • Gruff: complains about the stew and orders a second bowl.
  • Roguish: tells stories that may not be entirely true.
  • Mystic: reads omens in the smoke.
  • Scholarly: takes notes on every beetle.
  • Timid: jumps at shadows and keeps going anyway.
  • A bit of everything: all of the above, one after another.
• Race: taken from your character, or pick your own. Dwarves talk of Ironforge's forges, night elves of Teldrassil's moonlit groves, tauren of Mulgore's grasslands and trolls of the Echo Isles. Humans, gnomes, orcs and Forsaken have their own tales too. Choose "Keep it general" for no homeland talk.
• Gender: taken from your character, or choose she/her, he/him or they/them. The tales follow it: "lowers her voice", "lowers his voice", "lowers their voice".

The page shows a taste of tales in your voice, and you can try one in chat before anyone else sees it.

⚔️ Scenes

Each scene can be switched on or off, with its own chance of a tale.

By the fire (when you have a campfire buff such as Welcoming Campfire)

• Sitting, kneeling and sleeping: stories, prayers, sharpening steel, drowsy mumbles and dreams.
• Dancing, eating and drinking, and cooking. Cooking names the dish.

On the road

• Inns and cities: tavern talk, gossip, card games and bedding down for the night.
• Meals on the road.
• Fishing. It names your catch.
• Flight paths.
• Your hearthstone. It names your home.

Moments

• Level ups.
• Back from the dead.
• A close call: win a fight with little health left and your character reacts.
• A little tipsy.
• Arriving somewhere new (off by default).
• Lost in thought when you stand still for a while (off by default).

✨ The details

• Night tales after dark (server time): ghost stories and moonlit watches.
• Your companion: target a friendly player beside you and some tales are told to them, by name.
• No repeats until every line in a scene has been used.
• Your own lines: add as many as you like to any scene.

🛡️ Never spammy

• A cooldown between tales (90 seconds by default) and a limit per 10 minutes.
• Never in combat. Quiet in dungeons, raids and battlegrounds (you can change this).
• Private mode shows tales only to you, which is handy for trying it out.
