What's new

CalendarHelper

[v0.3.2] (2026-10-11)

Fixed

  • wow-version-replication.ps1 (dev-only, not shipped): Sync-File now turns a Deleted into a Changed when the source file still exists, so a write-replace save can no longer remove a live file from the replica installs. The polling loop already checks the source with Test-Path before calling Sync-File, but an editor can re-create the file between that check and the delete; the guard closes that gap. Reported by TOGProfessionMaster, whose event-based copy lost Compat.lua this way. Not verified by a reproduction.
  • DISCORD_BOT_SETUP.txt (ships) pointed players at SETUP-GUIDE.md twice, a file the addon has never shipped; both references now point at README.txt.
  • DISCORD_BOT_SETUP.txt never said where the desktop app comes from (it said only "C# application"). Its prerequisites now link the CalendarHelper app's Microsoft Store listing, https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9nhzznzsj5lc (given by the operator 2026-10-11; the listing's product data names it CalendarHelper and describes the Raid Helper bridge). README.txt Installation links it too and points at the bot guide.
  • DISCORD_BOT_SETUP.txt gave no example of the SavedVariables path the app needs, and a wrong app path was the actual cause of a Discord support case on 2026-10-11 where /ch list reported the data not loaded (operator, 2026-10-11). A new "Where the Events Are Saved" section gives a full example folder path, says the app takes the folder rather than the file (operator, 2026-10-11), and says which part to check (game-version folder, account folder, install location). README.txt "How It Works" gains the same full example path.
  • DISCORD_BOT_SETUP.txt Troubleshooting gains an "Events Show in the App but Not in Game" entry: exit WoW before the app syncs, check the path against the example, relaunch rather than /reload (a reload overwrites the file, matching README.txt "Updating Event Data", which it links to). It names /ch list as Classic Calendar's command, since this addon has none.

[v0.3.1] (2026-09-27)

New Features

  • Added a WoW Forever TOC (CalendarHelper_Camelot.toc, Interface 16001). Classic Calendar's Forever TOC lists CalendarHelper in ## Dependencies, so without this it would not load on Forever.

Fixed

  • The Burning Crusade TOC was named CalendarHelper_BCC.toc, a suffix no client recognises (the legacy form was -BCC, hyphen, and that stopped working in Anniversary 2.5.5). TBC and Anniversary clients therefore fell back to the Vanilla TOC. Renamed to CalendarHelper_TBC.toc and set to Interface 20506.
  • CalendarHelper.toc declared 11508, the Vanilla Test interface number. It now declares 11509, the live Classic Era number.
  • Core.lua printed the CalendarHelperDB structure, up to three event titles and an event count to chat on every login, plus a "loaded" line on ADDON_LOADED -- developer scaffolding in a UI-less addon. All output is now gated behind CalendarHelperDB.debug == true (a new optional top-level field, documented in README.txt); consumers never read it. The ADDON_LOADED handler is gone, and the PLAYER_ENTERING_WORLD handler now unregisters itself after the first loading screen instead of keeping a flag. Non-table events, untitled events and non-string ids no longer risk a concatenation error in the report.
  • README.txt contradicted its own "Updating Event Data" section: it said updates load on /reload and told users to edit the file at character select. Both now say to fully close WoW. Its License section said "provided as-is" while LICENSE is All Rights Reserved; it now points at LICENSE.

Changed

  • Every TOC title now uses the fleet brand colour (|cffFF8000); the Forever TOC adds a grey Forever tag.
  • README.txt gains a "Supported Game Versions" section and a "Debug Output" section. Its GitHub links (Classic Calendar and a "Contributing" section) were replaced with a plain mention of Classic Calendar - Revived on CurseForge and a Discord support line.

Developer / Packaging

  • wow-version-replication.ps1 now also replicates into _classic_beta_, which is where Battle.net installs WoW Forever.
  • Added an offline test suite on the shared WoWAPITesting harness (Tests/wowapi submodule, .busted shim, .luacheckrc): core_spec.lua covers the silent/debug login report, and toc_spec.lua pins that all three TOCs list the same files, exist on disk, declare their flavour's interface number and carry the branded title. 16 specs, 100% line coverage of Core.lua and CalendarHelper.lua. Run with lua Tests/wowapi/run.lua.
  • .pkgmeta now ignores Tests, and no longer lists dot-prefixed entries, which the packager prunes on its own.

[v0.3.0] (2026-07-04)

New Features

  • Added a dedicated Burning Crusade Classic TOC (CalendarHelper_BCC.toc, Interface 20505) alongside the Classic Era TOC (CalendarHelper.toc, Interface 11508), so the addon ships an explicit per-flavor build for each supported client.

Developer / Packaging

  • Added wow-version-replication.ps1 — a dev watcher that replicates the source tree from _classic_era_ into the other Classic-family clients (_classic_, _anniversary_) for testing, honouring the .pkgmeta ignore list.
  • Added .luarc.json (WoW API globals for the Lua language server), .markdownlint.json / .markdownlintignore, CLAUDE.md, and this CHANGELOG.md (wired into .pkgmeta as the manual changelog).
  • Added LICENSE (All Rights Reserved) and docs/Curseforge_Description.html (CurseForge project description).
  • Expanded the .pkgmeta ignore list to keep dev/tooling files out of the packaged zip while still shipping the .txt documentation.
