Once the item drops, Bunny Hunter keeps track of how many loots it took you. You can farm as many as you want and keep track of your luck.
The tooltip shows how many mobs you've looted, how long you've spent farming and what the chance of you already finding the pet is. Once that goes over 50% you're officially unlucky.
