Braindead 4ever

Braindead 4ever shows you the next quest, where to go and when a step is done. An arrow points the way. The addon is free and has no paid features.

The routes cover levels 1 to 30 for both factions. Routes for levels 30 to 60 will be added in updates after launch.

Features

• Free. Everything is in the download. You don't need an account or a companion app.
• Native look. The step window sits where Blizzard's quest tracker normally is and uses the game's fonts, icons and map pins. When you pause the guide, your quest tracker returns unchanged.
• Route adapts as you play. If you grind, run a dungeon or skip a quest, the route continues from your current state. Grey quests are dropped, quest chains that still give good XP stay in. If you are several levels ahead, the addon offers to jump to the matching part of the route. Skipping a quest also skips its follow-ups. Every action can be undone.
• Explorer mode. Choose how much the addon shows: only what you found yourself, a riddle for the zone, the area on the map, or the exact spot with the arrow. When other players find something, you get a rumor that names the zone. The exact location only appears if you ask for it.
• Play time stats. The "Your run" page shows your active play time per level, XP per hour and your best times across all characters. Once data from ten runs of your class has come in, it also shows their median and where you rank. At levels 10, 20 and 30 a short summary card appears once.
• Routes per race and class. Each of the 56 race and class combinations has its own route.

More features

• The step window shows the current step and up to ten upcoming steps. Completed steps are checked off automatically. Drag the corner to resize it.
• The arrow turns from green to red the further you face away from the target. If the target is behind you, it says so. In the game's colorblind mode it uses blue and orange.
• If a dungeon fits your level and is worth the time, the addon suggests it. If you skip it, the route continues normally.
• Hardcore mode leaves out elite quests and warns you before targets well above your level.
• If TomTom is installed, the current target is also sent to TomTom.
• Key bindings for the main actions.
• If players near you use a newer version, the step window shows a one-time notice.
• All options are in the game's settings menu and can be found with its search. Window and arrow can be scaled from 75 to 200 %.
• The interface is available in English and German. With other client languages the interface is English, but quest and item names are shown in your client language.
• Each step shows its data source. Route sections that have not yet been confirmed by enough real runs are marked with a small clock icon.

Data sharing

Braindead 4ever exchanges discoveries and play times with other players who use the addon. The routes for levels 30 to 60 are largely built from this data.

• Shared data: quest and object IDs with map positions, active play time, XP, level, race, class, and whether you followed the route. No character, realm or guild names.
• Transfer: in-game addon messages only, with a capped data rate. The game passes the sender's name to the receiving addon, but Braindead 4ever does not store it. No data leaves the game.
• Used for: verifying quest giver and objective locations, measuring time per level, class comparisons, explorer mode rumors and the routes for levels 30 to 60.

Data sharing cannot be turned off, because the routes depend on it.

Coverage

• Levels 1 to 30, both factions, all 56 race and class combinations.
• Levels 30 to 60 follow in updates. These routes are mostly built from data recorded in the game, so they will arrive sooner the more people level with the addon.
• When you reach the end of the current routes, the step window tells you.

Installation

1. Install with the CurseForge app, the Wago app or WowUp, or download the file from this page.
2. Manual installation: unzip the file into World of Warcraft\_forever_\Interface\AddOns\.
3. Log in. A small window asks how you want to play: follow the arrow, play with hints, or explore on your own. You can change this later under "Play style" in the settings.
4. Right-click the step window for all other options: skip step, go back, arrow, mini view, "Your run", report a problem, settings and pause. Chat command: /bd4

Bug reports

Right-click the step window and choose "Report a problem". A window opens with the version, current step, position, quest log and recent errors, without any names. Copy the text and post it in #bug-reports on our Discord, in the comments or as an issue on GitHub.

Fixes are released as soon as CurseForge has reviewed them.
