Boss Mentor is a lightweight in-game tactics guide for World of Warcraft Retail.

It shows you what matters before the pull—without opening Wowhead, searching Discord pins or pretending you already know the dungeon because you completed it once on Normal.

Three Raid Difficulties

Normal

Clear explanations of the core encounter mechanics, positioning, target priorities and role responsibilities.

Heroic

Separate Heroic tactics covering additional mechanics, harder overlaps, assignments and increased healing or defensive requirements.

Mythic

Dedicated Mythic strategies with Mythic-only mechanics, precise positioning, role assignments and raid-leader planning notes.

Switch between Normal, Heroic and Mythic directly in the Journal. Each difficulty keeps its own tactics, personal notes and Raid Lead Studio plan.

New in 4.3

Raid Brief window — a clean briefing you read before the pull, one boss per page.

• Opens from the note icon in the mini panel's bottom row, the Raid Brief button in Options → Actions, or /bmt brief.
• ◀ ▶ navigation through the bosses, opening on the one the mini panel is showing. Inside a known instance it pages through that instance only, so its counter matches the mini panel; elsewhere it lists every boss that has a brief.
• Plain text with role-colored lines. The prefixes TANK: HEAL: DPS: KICK: SOAK: STACK: SPREAD: each get their own color, and a line starting with ## becomes a section header.
• Editable per boss. Edit → Save keeps your own text, Revert restores the built-in one, and edits are stored per language, so rewriting the English brief never replaces the Croatian one. The colored prefix palette is shown above the editor while editing. Copy opens a selectable box for Ctrl+C.
• Drag-resizable from the bottom-right grip, and the size is remembered.
• Options → General → Raid Brief: window scale (0.7–1.6), font size (11–20 px) and a font picker (Arial Narrow, Friz Quadrata, Morpheus, Skurri — each menu row previews its own font).
• Briefs included for all 8 Venomous Abyss bosses plus Nymrissa Wavecaller, in 6 languages.

Croatian (hrHR) — a complete translation: the interface, every boss tactic (TLDR, abilities, tips and affix notes for all 75 bosses across 21 instances), the dungeon trash notes and the Raid Brief texts. Selectable in Options → Language; WoW has no Croatian client, so it is never auto-detected — pick it manually. Croatian letters are written without their diacritical marks (c, z, s, d) because the game fonts cannot render them and they would otherwise show as blanks.

Nymrissa Wavecaller — The Tidebound Grotto — the Season 2 Lair boss is now in the database with full TLDR, abilities and tips, listed under Season 2 raids.

New Dungeon Trash Panel

Version 4.1 adds a dedicated Dungeon Trash panel—because the boss is rarely what kills the key first.

• Important trash mobs grouped by enemy
• Dangerous abilities with clear, color-coded actions
• Interrupt, stop, dispel, defensive, movement and priority-target warnings
• Click a mob to expand its explanation
• Click it again when you suddenly become confident
• Movable, resizable and scrollable
• Separate font, scale, opacity and backdrop settings
• Quick Trash toggle directly in the Mini panel footer

The compact view always shows the mob, ability and required action. Detailed descriptions stay hidden until requested, so the panel does not become a small novel during a large pull.

Trash guidance is summarized for quick in-game use.

Trash tips by Tactyks—so you can blame the route instead of the lack of interrupts.

Quick and Full Boss Panels

The Boss Mini panel has two modes.

Quick mode

For players who need the answer before the pull timer reaches zero:

• Essential role-aware TLDR tactics
• Up to three optional practical tips
• Tank, Healer, DPS and All filters
• Compact, readable and configurable
• Just enough information to avoid confidently doing the wrong mechanic

Full mode

For players who enjoy knowing why everyone else died:

• Quick, Abilities, Tips and Trash tabs
• Detailed mechanics with icons and color-coded actions
• Normal, Heroic and Mythic information
• Difficulty and role filtering
• Safe sharing to Instance, Party or Raid chat

Boss Journal

Type /bmt to open the complete Boss Journal.

• Browse every supported dungeon, raid and boss
• Search by boss or dungeon
• Review TLDR tactics, abilities, tips and dangerous trash
• Select individual mechanics for group briefings
• Store private notes for each boss and difficulty
• Open the selected boss or dungeon trash directly on its panel

Personal notes remain private. Your group will never know you wrote “do not trust this tank” unless you share it yourself.

Raid Lead Studio

Raid Lead Studio helps turn “everyone knows what to do, right?” into an actual plan.

• Quick PUG, Detailed PUG and Guild Progression presets
• Assignments for tanks, healers, groups, markers and cooldowns
• Reorder, edit and remove individual briefing blocks
• Build plans for one boss or the complete instance
• Share to WoW chat or export for Discord
• Save plans separately for each boss and difficulty

Using Raid Lead Studio does not guarantee that people will follow assignments. Boss Mentor provides tactics, not miracles.

Boss Editor and Custom Tactics

Every built-in boss can be customized, and completely new encounters can be added.

• Edit Quick tactics, abilities and tips
• Add roles, mechanic types, phases and difficulties
• Preview changes immediately
• Import and export custom tactic packages
• Revert built-in encounters safely

You can also use the editor to write recipes. The boss will remain unimpressed.

Translations were prepared with automated assistance, so corrections are welcome. Standing in fire is now discouraged internationally.

Smart Group Sharing

Share the tactics you are currently viewing directly to your group.

• Automatic Instance, Raid, Party or Say selection
• Share Quick tactics, Abilities, Tips or selected briefing lines
• Long tactics are split into readable messages
• Optional Boss Mentor signature
• Clear warning when WoW blocks sharing during combat

When inside an instance group, Boss Mentor uses Instance chat—because explaining the tactic only to your premade friends is not enough when the other two players are already pulling.

Set everything exactly how you like it, then move the panel again five minutes later.

Important Note

Boss Mentor does not replace DBM or BigWigs.

Those addons tell you when something is happening.

Boss Mentor tells you what you were supposed to do about it—preferably before the combat resurrection discussion begins.

Install it, enter a dungeon and look prepared.

Actually reading the tactics remains optional. Survival may vary.
