What's new

0.2.3

Addon

  • Next moves on without marking the step done: going back shows it again, still to do.
  • Back shows earlier steps; one you've already done (turned in, gathered) is shown crossed out, and your progress stays put.
  • Steps for quests you've already finished or turned in are passed over on their own.
  • Training steps finish when you train at your class trainer (a profession trainer doesn't count).
  • A draft route says how much of it players have played ("about 31% of this route has been played"); from 80% on it's no longer a draft.
  • The time remaining counts down with every kill and pickup, not only when a step finishes.
  • An "On the way" hint shows only for quests you have, so it doesn't send you after objectives you can't get yet.
  • Your place in the guide is kept by step, so a re-planned route doesn't move you to a different step.
  • Near your class trainer with new spells waiting, the guide says so ("Train now"), wherever the route expected your level.
  • A step no longer names a quest you've already finished, and its own objectives show before the "On the way" list.

Route planner and optimizer

  • The route search runs four times longer and finds better routes: it no longer leaves out quests that only pay off when done together.
  • Item pickups players record add to hand-placed positions instead of being ignored.
  • During the beta, routes are re-published whenever one gets faster at all.
  • Quests that share a place (Thazz'ril's Pick and the Burning Blade Medallion in one cave) are done together or not at all, and the place's extra time is counted once.
  • The Adventurer waits for the Burning Blade Medallion to be turned in, as in the game.
  • A quest waits until you're within 2 levels of it (a level 8 quest with level 7-8 mobs isn't sent to a level 5 character), and its hunting step waits for that level in the guide too.
  • The Valley of Trials is finished before the route leaves it: no carrying the Burning Blade Medallion out and hearthing back.
  • Quests are picked up when the route walks past their giver (A Peon's Burden on the way out).
  • New Forever escort quests are left out like the Classic ones (Lost in the Shadows).
  • Trips to your class trainer are planned: a training level reached and not trained within two levels costs time, so routes go train when it's worth the detour (Levels 15-20 and 20-25 had no training at all).
  • The Tauren and Undead starts are finished before their routes leave them, like the Valley of Trials.
  • Routes never send a character to the other faction's NPCs, and planned trainer trips go to the capital cities' trainers.
  • Fights at low levels are planned slower, as measured on a warrior (the slowest class to level), so time estimates hold for warriors and other classes finish early.

Routes

  • Orc and Troll 1-10: Wayward Weapons is taken at the start and its weapons picked up while you hunt Cutting Teeth's boars.
  • Every route re-planned under these rules: predicted times are longer and closer to real play (Orc and Troll 1-10: about 2 hr 20 min), and Levels 15-25 now fly to Thunder Bluff to train.
