Description

Playing WoW: Forever? Install by hand. The CurseForge app doesn't recognise the Forever client yet, so it may say "Game was not found or supported" or not show Bonfire in search. Download the latest file from the Files tab and unzip it into World of Warcraft\_classic_beta_\Interface\AddOns\, so you end up with AddOns\Bonfire\Bonfire.toc. Restart the game.
Overview Bonfire is a World of Warcraft: Forever addon that transforms campfires from silent, overlooked gathering spots into vibrant social hubs where players can discover each other, play quick dice games, and build community connections. What I have noticed in WoW:Forever are players sitting at campfires and at best they will say 'hello' or a 'ty for buff' and go about their adventure. In WoW: Forever, campfires exist as a core game mechanic, but players have no way to find them or know who's there. The result: vast stretches of downtime where players sit alone at fires, or hours spent wandering without ever stumbling upon one. The game's vision of campfires as "community stumble-upon moments" never materializes because discovery is a hassle with campfires needing ~100yd range from one another. What Bonfire Does Bonfire was made up with four core features:
  1. Fire Discovery Broadcasts your campfire's location to nearby Bonfire users. Shows all active fires on your minimap and world map with pins. Lists fires in the Bonfire window, sorted by distance Lets you walk up and join a game in seconds
2. Quick Dice Games Three games built in, playable with 2–10 players: Bonfire (the main game): Players roll 1–6; each roll adds to their pot. Roll a 1 and the fire goes out. Unbanked pots are lost. Bank to keep yours. Highest total after 5 rounds wins. ~30-45 second game. The Odd Man Out: Everyone secretly picks a number, then rolls. If anyone else rolls your number, you're out. Last one standing wins. Side Bets: The host opens a card of rounds (Duels, Races, etc.); other players bet on a side. Bets on the winner split the pot minus the host's cut of either 2/5/10/20% 3. Gold Tables For fun: Just reputation on the line. No stakes. Gambling: Players trade gold to the host before each round; winners hold credit; cash out anytime. Bonfire fills in amounts automatically (where the game allows) and tracks balances automatically so the host never holds anyone's gold by mistake. 4.** Broker History:** Host Reputation After you play at someone's table, a box asks: Good host? and Timely? Your votes travel when players meet, so word spreads: Hosts are ranked Terrible, Mediocre, Pleasant, or Peak Host (or New Host until three players vote). Standings are anonymous (nobody can see who voted) and graded against the other hosts you know of, so one or two scammers don't make everyone look great. Players with Unpaid reports are tracked and stick around for 90 days. Big-trade warnings alert you if you're about to pay a host far more gold than they've ever been seen paying back. I made this for the intention of such players: Solo players waiting at a fire: Discover other Bonfire users, join a quick game, and head on your way. Friends hanging out: A way to pass time together between dungeons or farming runs with built-in banter and stakes. Community builders: Fire becomes a destination. You know who runs a good table, and word gets around. Roleplay What's an adventure without some risk among your peers? A solo RPG that's what. The Design Philosophy Trust through transparency, not through rules: Standings are advice, never a barrier. Join any fire, even one with a Terrible host, if you want. Every vote is anonymous; no vendetta spirals. Small coordinated cheating (a group of friends voting for each other) scales poorly and honest votes from strangers drown it out. Gold only moves through the game's own trade window. Bonfire never touches real gold; the game enforces the handoff. Combat pauses the table so a fight doesn't ruin everyone's game.
