BIS-0.8.6.zip
What's new
BIS 0.8.6
This release covers everything since 0.7.x. Several earlier 0.8 builds had bugs, so if you grabbed one, update.
New
- Safe to sell: a coin marks soulbound gear you can't use, or that is clearly worse than what you wear. At a vendor, a button lists the items and sells them after you confirm. You choose how much worse counts on the Options tab.
/bis selllists them. - Gear progress tracker (
/bis progress): a chart of your gear score over time and a log of recent gear changes. - Compare items (
/bis compare): any two items side by side, with stats, score and the difference. - Loot advisor: on group loot rolls, suggests Need, Greed or Pass and highlights the button. It never rolls for you.
- Copy diagnostics (
/bis diag): one block of text for bug reports, with no character name or account details. - Self-test (
/bis selftest): checks which game functions and frames BIS can use on your version, and lists anything missing. - Welcome window on first run, and a What's new window after updates (
/bis welcome,/bis new). - The version number now shows in the options window and the class guide (
/bis version).
Fixed
- Specialization detection: this game version keeps the specialization functions in a different place, so BIS never saw your spec. Spec presets, the class guide's spec list and mastery text now work.
- Sell button: an error when clicking it, caused by a money text function this game version doesn't have.
- Stat goals: the percentages could stay empty after a reload. They are now re-read and refreshed every few seconds.
- Mail attachment arrows no longer depend on a function this version lacks.
- Loot roll arrows and advisor now find the roll window's buttons and match rolls by item name.
- Opening BIS while Blizzard's settings window was open could cause errors in other addons. BIS no longer closes that window.
Behind the scenes, a short history of the loot buttons
- Attempt 1: assumed the Need, Greed and Pass buttons were called what I would have called them. They were not.
- Attempt 2: searched the roll window by name. The buttons were not in the window. They were next door.
- Attempt 3: looked inside the box that was inside the box. Found them. They had been there all along.
- Attempt 4: noticed the Transmog button was nearly mistaken for Need. Fixed that too.
- The self-test, which exists purely so this never happens again, now reports all of them found. We do not speak of attempts 1 to 3.
