# BG Strategist

**Know your job before the gates open.**

BG Strategist looks at your team and the enemy team in **Battleground Blitz** and suggests a role for every player: who carries the flag, who defends, who goes off-carts, who sits a base and who hunts orb carriers. Every assignment comes with a short reason, so the whole team can agree on a plan in the starting room instead of arguing about it at the first death.

## Features

- **Automatic map detection.** The window opens in the starting room as soon as you enter a supported battleground.
- **"Your role" at a glance.** Your own assignment and the reason behind it are always shown at the top, even when the window is collapsed.
- **Full lineup with reasons.** For example: *Preservation Evoker carries (best flag carrier in the game)*, *Beast Mastery Hunter defends (pets lose fast flag carriers)*.
- **Enemy analysis.** Shows the likely enemy flag carrier, stealthers to watch for at handoffs, likely base sitters, orb carriers and pure killers.
- **Post to chat.** One click posts the lineup to instance chat so everyone knows their job.
- **Specs view.** Blizzard hides specs during PvP matches. You can set unknown specs with a click, and the plan updates instantly.
- **Test mode.** Preview every map with random teams outside of battlegrounds (`/bgs test`).
- **English and German.** The addon follows your client language.

## Supported maps

| Map | Recommendation |

| Warsong Gulch, Twin Peaks | Flag carrier (healers first, Preservation Evoker above all). 2–3 defenders depending on FC mobility and enemy offense. Flex, offense, optional stealth flag grab. |
| Silvershard Mines | 5 on lava, 3 off-carters picked by who survives best without a healer. Faction-specific opening. Healer option if the enemy off-cart team is clearly stronger. |
| Battle for Gilneas | Home base sitter, the most mobile healer floats, 2 helpers, everyone else at Waterworks. |
| Eye of the Storm | 2 home base sitters, a floating healer, a helper, everyone else fights for middle and the flag. |
| Temple of Kotmogu | Orb hierarchy: the 4 best carriers take orbs, support peels, and the 2 weakest pickers (never healers) focus on kills. |
| Deephaul Ravine | 1 cart sitter, 2 helpers watching the cart spawn, everyone else teamfights at the crystal. |
| Arathi Basin | Exactly 1 healer + 1 healer-dependent DPS on Lumber Mill and Blacksmith, 4 players for Gold Mine and off nodes, one opening capper. |
| Deepwind Gorge | Market + Farm/Quarry as spin nodes, a 1v1 node, 3 players at Shrine & Ruins. |

## Commands

## Good to know (Midnight addon restrictions)

- **Specs are protected during matches.** Specs and roles on the scoreboard are hidden from addons, starting in the preparation room. BG Strategist then works with class averages, marks those players with **?**, and tries to inspect your teammates in the starting room. Use the **Specs** button to set any spec by hand.
- **Addons can't send chat messages during PvP matches.** The **Post to chat** button therefore runs a `/i` macro, which still works.
- The window contains a secure button. While you are in combat, showing, hiding, collapsing and moving the window are applied as soon as combat ends.

BG Strategist schlägt im **Battleground Blitz** anhand der Zusammensetzung beider Teams für jeden Spieler eine Rolle vor, jeweils mit kurzer Begründung. Dazu gibt es eine Gegner-Analyse, einen Button zum Posten der Aufstellung in den Instanz-Chat, eine Spec-Ansicht zum Setzen geschützter Specs und einen Testmodus (`/bgs test`). Die Sprache richtet sich nach dem Client: deutsch auf deutschen Clients, sonst englisch.
