BetterShields 2.0.0
What's new
BetterShields 2.0.0
Fixed
- The shield amount shows again. On WoW Forever and Retail 12 the game hides unit numbers from addons, so since then the number never appeared. BetterShields now passes the shield straight to Blizzard's own text and bars, which can show it.
- Raid frames show shields again. 1.0.6 hid Blizzard's shield bar on every raid and raid-style party frame and drew nothing in its place.
- No more Lua errors on Classic Era, TBC Anniversary, Titan and MoP Classic (the player frame code and the raid frame shield code both errored there).
- No number on frames without a shield, and no stray text on frames without a portrait.
New
- Settings page (Options > AddOns > BetterShields, or
/bettershields):- Shield Amount: on/off; Position (Portrait, Health Bar Left, Health Bar Right); Number Style (Short "12.3 K", Full "12,345", and Percent of Max Health on Classic clients); Text Size; Text Color (White, Shield Blue, Gold); Move Left/Right and Down/Up; which frames (Player, Target, Focus, Party, Raid Frames).
- Shield Bar for unit frames and for raid frames: Blizzard, Over Health From the Left, or Over Health From the Right. The over-health styles draw the whole shield with Blizzard's shield lines and glow, so it stays visible at full health.
- Portrait: Hide Portrait Combat Text (on by default, as before) can now be turned off.
- Preview button (or
/bettershields preview): a sample shield on your frames to place the number and try the styles.
- Small shield number on raid frames (off by default).
- Now listed for Retail 12.1, MoP Classic, Titan Reforged, TBC Anniversary and Classic Era.
Unchanged by default
- The number sits in the middle of the portrait in white, 16 px, outlined, shortened like Blizzard's health text.
- Raid frames draw shields from the left edge over the health (the 1.0.x look). Player, target, focus and party frames keep Blizzard's own shield bar.
- Your saved data carries over; leftovers from a 2025 version are cleaned up.
