BetterDamageReader 2.0.0
What's new
BetterDamageReader (DamageMeterReader) 2.0.0
The Damage Test now works under Midnight's hidden combat values, and on WoW Forever too.
- Rebuilt to read Blizzard's damage meter through its own data (C_DamageMeter) instead of reading the meter's bars, which stopped working in Midnight and after the 12.0.5 meter update. Results get saved again.
- The test really runs for the length shown: 1 minute by default (1.0.x ran 30 seconds by mistake). Choose 30 seconds, 1, 2, 3 or 5 minutes.
- The timer starts when you pull. Pressing Start in combat waits for your next pull.
- While the test runs you see your damage and DPS live. At the time limit you see your exact damage, plus an optional sound and "Time's up! Stop attacking." on screen.
- On Forever and Retail the score is the meter's DPS for that fight, read as soon as combat ends (the meter hides its numbers from addons during combat). On the Classic clients the score is exact at the time limit.
- Best Runs are ranked by DPS, so tests of different lengths compare fairly. They show the spec or class icon, the fight length, item level and date, and each row has a tooltip. Fights that end well before the time limit are shown but not ranked.
- New window in Blizzard's style. It closes with Escape and remembers where you put it.
- New settings page (Options > AddOns > BetterDamageReader): Test Length, Time's Up Alert, Button on Damage Meter, Only This Character, Runs Kept, and Clear Saved Runs (asks first).
- The stopwatch button on the damage meter is kept, with a cleaner round look, and you can hide it.
- New key bindings (Show/Hide, Start/Stop), an Addon Compartment entry, and
/dmr start | stop | options | help./dmrstill opens the window. - Your old saved runs that have a damage number are kept, converted to DPS as 30-second tests. Runs that never got a number, which the old version never showed, are removed.
- Supports WoW Forever, Retail, MoP Classic, Titan, TBC Anniversary and Classic Era.
- The in-game name now matches CurseForge: BetterDamageReader, in the addon list, the window title and the settings page. Your saved runs and
/dmrare unchanged.
