BestiaryTCG-1.4.0_1.zip
What's new
Changelog
All notable changes to Bestiary TCG.
[1.4.0] - 2026-09-28
Changed
- Boss Packs hold only the boss card (Rare or better). The pack opening window now shows "Boss Pack · <boss>".
- Card stats follow a curve like Hearthstone. A card with nothing special gets 2 x Cost + 1 points of Attack and Health, where 1 Attack and 1 Health are worth the same (a 4-cost card is 4/5 or 5/4). Anything extra is paid with stats:
- an ability (Rare or better) costs 2 points;
- the natural armor some creature types have in Bestiary Arena costs 1 point per armor (Dragonkin and Demon 1, Giant 2, Mechanical 3);
- the extra speed of Epic and Legendary cards and the extra armor of Legendaries cost 1 point each.
- Extras never take more than half of the points.
- Rarity no longer adds stats: it adds abilities. The same NPC keeps its Cost and style at every rarity.
- Glass cannons, balanced cards and walls keep their shape inside that budget.
- Boss cards keep their special stats (Cost 1, Attack 1-5, Health 5-10).
[1.3.1] - 2026-09-28
Fixed
- In raids only the first boss gave a Boss Pack: after a boss, every other boss of the same zone was blocked for 2 minutes. Now each boss gives its own pack; only the same boss (or an encounter whose boss units already gave packs in that fight) is skipped.
- Boss cards created from the encounter name (when the game hides the boss data in instances) now show the boss's 3D model from the Encounter Journal. When you loot the boss and its creature can be read, the card is linked to the real NPC.
Added
- Creature categories on every card: an icon on the art, the category name on the card and in the tooltip, and the category traits (its range of costs, whether it leans to glass cannons or walls, and how it fights in Bestiary Arena). Commons show the traits; Rare or better show their ability, and the tooltip shows both.
- NPCs saved without a category get it filled in automatically out of combat (also with /bt names).
- /bt diag shows NPCs without a category, boss packs received and the last boss events, to report problems.
[1.3.0] - 2026-09-28
Added
- Boss Packs: killing a boss (dungeon and raid bosses, world bosses) gives a special pack named after it, free to open. It holds the boss card, always Rare or better, and up to 4 cards of other creatures you killed in that zone. Boss kills give 50 Bestiary points.
- Boss cards cost 1 and roll their own stats: Attack 1 to 5 and Health 5 to 10.
Changed
- New card stats, the same for every copy of an NPC:
- Cost is spread from 1 to 10: critters are cheap, giants and dragonkin expensive, +1 for elites and +2 for rares. Before, most max-level NPCs ended up with the same high cost.
- Each NPC has a style: glass cannons with lots of Attack and little Health, balanced cards, or walls with lots of Health and almost no Attack.
- Rarity adds a little on top.
- Existing cards get the new stats automatically. NPCs you killed as bosses before this version are marked as bosses the next time you kill them.
[1.2.0] - 2026-09-27
Changed
- Kills give 5 Bestiary points, 10 for elites and 50 for rares (rare elites and world bosses count as rares).
- Pack prices rise more and more slowly: +20% up to 100 points, +10% from 100, +5% from 200, +1% from 500, and never more than 1000.
Fixed
- Lua error "attempted to index a table that cannot be indexed with secret keys" in combat (Midnight returns an extra secret value from the creature type API).
[1.1.0] - 2026-09-27
Changed
- Quest points are now called Bestiary points.
- Every kill gives 1 Bestiary point.
- Every quest you turn in gives 100 Bestiary points (was 10 to 30).
- Pack purchases: 10 per quest (was 1), 1 per world quest, and new: 1 per dungeon you complete (dungeon finder, keystone or the last boss).
[1.0.1] - 2026-09-27
Fixed
- In Midnight zones and instances, one kill could be saved as two separate cards: one with the name but no 3D model and a "?" icon, and one called "NPC
#123456" with the model but no name. The experience message and the loot of the same kill are now joined into one card with both. - Cards already split this way are joined automatically when the kill history allows it, and the rest are joined the next time you kill or see that creature.
- The addon remembers which name belongs to which creature, so later kills of the same creature get the right card right away.
[1.0.0] - 2026-09-27
First public release. Everything below is included.
Collecting
- Every NPC you kill becomes a collectible card with its own 3D portrait, stats and ability.
- Kills are detected from the NPCs you see die, your experience messages and the corpses you loot, and each corpse counts once. Works at max level, in groups and in instances.
- In dungeons, raids and delves, NPC names hidden by the game during combat are filled in afterwards (
/bt namesretries right away). - The bestiary is secret: each kill drops a face-down card, and you only see what it was when you open the pack.
- Each zone fills its own Loot Pack, named after the zone. Each NPC appears once per pack, and 5 cards seal it.
- Sealed packs are shown in the main window. Hover one and it starts to open; click it to open that exact pack.
Rarity and finishes
- Random rarity for every card, whatever the NPC was: Common 55%, Uncommon 28%, Rare 11%, Epic 5%, Legendary 1%, in the WoW item quality colors.
- Chrome finish (1 in 50): a prismatic foil with a moving shine.
- Full Art finish (1 in 100): the NPC fills the whole card, with only its stats on top.
- Finishes stack with each other and with any rarity. A Legendary Chrome Full Art card is 1 in 500,000.
- Card reveal one by one, with glows for Rare or better, a fanfare for Legendary and a special banner for Chrome and Full Art.
Points and packs
- Turning in quests gives quest points: 10 for normal quests, 20 for elite, group or world quests, 30 for dungeon or raid quests.
- Opening a pack costs quest points, starting at 10 and rising 20% each time.
- Burn cards you don't want (right-click in the collection): Common 4, Uncommon 6, Rare 8, Epic 12, Legendary 30 points. Chrome doubles the points and Full Art doubles them again.
Collection
- Collection window with rarity filters and a "Special" filter for Chrome and Full Art cards.
- Every card remembers who captured it. Cards you receive from other players show "Captured by <name>" forever.
Playing with others
- Trade cards with players in your party or raid: a trade window with both offers, up to 8 different cards per side, locked accepts, and a trade history.
- Share a card (Ctrl+click): your character shows it off in /emote with its rarity, finishes and stats.
- Players nearby who have Bestiary TCG see the shared card as a link in its rarity color, like an item link, and can click it to see the whole card.
Interface
- Windows styled like the game's own option dialogs, drawn above the quest tracker, and closable in combat.
- Minimap button: click for the window, Shift+click for the collection, right-click for the rules and FAQ. Also in the AddOns compartment.
- In-game rules and FAQ (
/bt help,/bt faq). - The addon follows your game client's language: English, Spanish, Chinese and Portuguese.
Changed from the 0.x test builds
- The test commands and the debug view are gone. Your collection, packs and points from the test builds are kept.
