Azeroth Public Library: Forever Lore — Launch Update

Azeroth Public Library gets a complete visual makeover for the launch of Warcraft Forever!

Your collection is safe. All existing books, notes, favorites, and settings carry over untouched. The way books are captured remains exactly the same.

A Whole New Look

• Dark-and-Gold Interface: Every window, panel, list row, and button has been rebuilt with a richer, more native Warcraft feel. Soft shadows, subtle grain, and a warm glow beneath the title complete the look.
• New Masthead: The library's name and tagline now appear prominently across the top of the window.
• Four Accent Themes: Customize your library with themes inspired by the materials of an old-world library:
• Gilded Leaf — Default
• Arcane Ink
• Verdigris
• Oxblood Binding
• Themed UI Elements: Borders, headings, selections, icons, and highlights automatically match your chosen theme.
• New Side-Tab Icons: Library, Favorites, Settings, and Refresh now feature a consistent set of themed icons.
• Improved Scrollbars: Slim scrollbars appear only when needed, with content gently fading beneath their edges.
• Improved Search: Search fields now include a convenient clear (✕) button.
• Enhanced Tooltips: Darker, easier-to-read tooltips throughout the library.
• Resizable Window: A new resize grip is available in the bottom-right corner.

The Reading Pane Comes Alive

Your reading room now feels a little more like a quiet corner of Azeroth.

• Zone Map Backgrounds: A softly painted map of the zone where a book was discovered now appears behind the Reading Pane, like an old map resting on a desk.
• Zone Previews: Select a zone without opening a book to see its map.
• Faction Emblems: When a zone map isn't available, your faction's emblem appears instead.
• Reading-Room Ambience: Warm motes drift upward while a gentle candle glow flickers in the corner, reflecting your selected theme.
• Optional Animation: Prefer a quieter reading experience? Disable these effects under Settings → Display → Animated Reading Pane backdrop.
• Notes, Completely Rebuilt
• The Notes feature now behaves like a proper text editor, making it easier to document your discoveries and adventures.
• Visible text cursor and full four-directional arrow-key navigation.
• Click-and-drag or Shift+click text selection.
• Ctrl+A to select all text.
• Full copy, cut, and paste support.
• Automatic scrolling that follows your cursor through longer notes.
• Click anywhere inside the Notes field to begin typing.
• A clean, distraction-free writing surface while editing.
• Automatic Saving: Notes save as you type and remain attached to the correct book, even when switching between books mid-sentence.

Favorites Improvements

• New Favorite Star: A dim outline appears when a book isn't favorited, changing to a solid, glowing star when enabled.
• Favorites in Entry Lists: The same star now identifies favorited books in your Entries list.
• Live Favorites Counter: The footer updates immediately when books are added to or removed from Favorites.
• Immediate Saving: Favorites are now saved as soon as they're changed rather than waiting until logout.

Settings Improvements

• Completely restyled Settings interface.
• Updated checkboxes, option buttons, and sliders that match your selected theme.
• Both text-size sliders now display their current values beside their labels.
• New Animated Reading Pane backdrop setting.

Minimap Button Improvements

• New Icon: A redesigned circular icon properly fills the minimap button's ring.
• Drag-and-Drop Positioning: Move the button around the minimap's edge to your preferred location.
• Independent Minimap Button: The library now manages its own minimap button rather than relying on LibDBIcon.

Compatibility Note: Addons that collect LibDBIcon buttons into a separate bar or bag may no longer collect the APL button. It will remain accessible directly on the minimap.

New Slash Command

/apl backdrop

Displays which zone map or faction emblem is currently being shown in the Reading Pane.

The updated interface style is adapted from Forever Goal Tracker by Karl (MIT License).

The Notes editor follows the approach used by Total RP 3 (Apache License 2.0).
