What's new
Rules
- Execute (warrior) reaches across the board. It removes any enemy card with fewer spikes in total than your biggest card, wherever the two of them stand. It used to need the card to sit next to a bigger card of yours. “Biggest” means the biggest card you own right now, so losing it shortens your reach, and a frozen card — nobody’s, out of play — gives you no reach at all. With nothing of yours on the board you can’t cast it. The card is still destroyed rather than taken, and its owner is dealt a new one.
- Mind Control (priest) works on cards up to 10 spikes, up from 8.
- Both of you need 1.3.0 for the new rules. Against someone on an older copy the match is played under their rules — the old neighbouring Execute and the old 8-spike Mind Control — rather than refusing to start.
Sound
Three new sounds, replacing ones that never quite fitted:
- Choosing a card is a quick whoosh, in place of the rogue’s Stealth noise.
- A capture is the artifact forge’s chime, in place of Entangling Roots.
- “Let fate decide” is a dice roll, in place of the old three dice.
Each one falls back to the sound it replaced if your client hasn’t got the file, so nothing goes silent.
Effects
- A capture is marked. A white slash flashes over a card as it changes hands, bigger when it was taken by three spikes or more.
- The card you choose sparkles. A burst of gold kindles over it as you pick it, alongside the new whoosh. The card’s steady lift and glow still mark your choice for the rest of the round.
- The deck reads as a button at last. It lifts and grows a little under the mouse, dips while you hold it down, and a streak of light sweeps across it every few seconds. The gold outline still breathes.
- Blackfathom Deeps’ Rising Tide is one wave. A single sheet of water rises over the whole board, instead of three separate columns of bubbles.
- “Shuffling the deck...” no longer runs through its own ornament. The gold rule and diamonds are laid out around the words again, whatever the message says.
Fixed
- A move could, in rare circumstances, be sent to the other player without a square attached, which broke their copy’s turn.
