Basic Rules
Every player starts with 8 cards.
Regular cards belong to one of five colors:
- Blue
- Black
- Red
- Bronze
- Green
Each regular card also has a number from 1 to 8.
You may play a card if either its color or its number matches the card currently on the table.
For example, a Blue 1 can be followed by:
- any other Blue card;
- any card with the number 1;
- a valid Aspect card.
If you do not want to play a card from your current hand, you may draw another card.
After drawing:
- if you have a valid card, you may play any valid card from your hand;
- or you may choose to pass;
- if you still have no valid card, your turn is passed automatically.
The first player to empty their hand receives 1st place and is removed from the active turn order. The remaining players continue until all placements are determined.
Aspect Cards
Each color has its own special Aspect.
Red Aspect
The next player must draw 2 additional cards.
If that player has another Red Aspect, they may play it instead and pass the penalty onward. Each normal Red Aspect played into the chain increases the penalty by another 2 cards.
If a Red Aspect is drawn as part of the penalty itself, it may still be played to pass the existing penalty onward, but the penalty does not increase.
A Black Aspect may also be used to completely block a Red Aspect chain.
Blue Aspect
The next player in turn is skipped.
Green Aspect
After playing a Green Aspect, the player may immediately play one additional Green card.
If another Green card is available, the player may either play it or voluntarily end the turn.
If no Green card remains in the hand, the turn simply passes normally — no additional cards are drawn.
Playing a Green Aspect as your final card still counts as finishing your hand.
Bronze Aspect
Reverses the direction of play.
With two active players, the Bronze Aspect also skips the opponent, meaning the player who used it receives the next turn again.
Black Aspect
Grants protection against Aspect effects targeting that player until the end of their next turn.
It can protect against effects such as:
- Red Aspect penalties;
- Blue Aspect skips;
- forced color restrictions.
A Black Aspect may also be played directly against a Red Aspect to cancel the penalty chain completely.
Card of All Aspects
The Card of All Aspects may be played regardless of the previous card.
After playing it, you choose the color that should be active next.
The following player must respond with a card of the selected color, unless another rule or protection effect allows otherwise.
Wing and Claw
When a player reaches exactly 2 cards, a special reaction window begins.
The player with two cards gets immediate access to the Wing and Claw button.
Other players receive access 0.6 seconds later.
If the player with two cards presses the button first, nothing happens.
If another player presses it first, the player with two cards must draw 2 additional cards.
The lobby leader acts as the authoritative judge of the reaction timing.
Spectator Mode
Players in the lobby may switch to Spectator mode before a match begins.
Spectators:
- do not occupy active player slots;
- do not receive cards;
- cannot perform game actions;
- can see the public game state;
- can see card counts, placements, active turns, effects, and the match log.
The lobby displays separate counters for active players and spectators.
Persistent Lobbies
A lobby remains active after a match ends.
The lobby leader can immediately start a new game without reinviting everyone.
Players may also change roles, leave the lobby, or invite new participants before the next match.
Reconnect and Reload Support
Game state is stored using SavedVariables.
If a player uses /reload or temporarily disconnects, the lobby leader can synchronize the current authoritative game state when they return.
The same system allows the lobby leader to restore an ongoing match after reloading their own UI.
Privacy
Players can see how many cards everyone has, but the exact contents of another player's hand are not shown in the interface.
The lobby leader maintains the authoritative game state required for synchronization and rule validation.
Commands
Use:
/aspects
or
/asp
to open the addon.
Gather your party, choose your Aspects, and be the first to get rid of your cards — while making sure nobody catches you before you call Wing and Claw.
