Description
Your fishing life, remembered.
A fishing journal that writes itself while you fish.
Angler's Journal keeps a record of your fishing adventures in World of Warcraft. It remembers what you've caught, where you've fished, and what happened along the way. As you keep fishing, it builds a journal that's unique to your character.
It also brings a little life to fishing itself. Your character occasionally reacts to what happens, and you can read other anglers' journals or let them read yours.
No checklists. No min-maxing. Just you, your fishing pole, and a journal that fills up as you play.
Made for those who fish because they want to, not because they have to.

Inside the journal
There are five tabs, each covering a different part of your fishing life.
The Angler
This page gradually builds a picture of your character as an angler. It notices where you like to fish, what you tend to catch, whether you prefer fishing at night, and who often joins you.
Your habits describe how you usually fish. For example, the journal might call you a Night Fisher if you spend most of your fishing time after dark. Habits can change as you do.
You can also earn names, which are permanent nicknames for things you've done. Many Waters might appear after you've fished across enough different zones, or Under the Moon after many nights spent casting.
Angler's Tales are little comments about your fishing history. The journal might mention how many fish have escaped you, how much time you've spent watching a bobber, or your unusually impressive collection of junk.
None of these are quests or achievements you need to track. They appear naturally as you fish.

Collection
When you find a new catch, you decide whether to add it to the journal. Each recorded catch gets its own page with Field Notes, including where you first caught it and other details gathered over time.
Over time, a catch might get a Fish Tale, a short remark about your history with that particular fish. For example, if you keep catching Raw Nightfin Snapper after dark, the journal might joke about your sleeping schedule. You can hover over a tale to find out what inspired it.
You can mark a catch as Memorable, or the journal may label it Hard Won if it took a lot of patience to land. And it's not limited to fish. Strange junk and treasures you pull from the water can have a place in your collection too.
Known Waters
The journal remembers where you've fished and what you've caught there. Places you return to often can earn marks such as Home Waters, a way of recognizing somewhere that has become a regular fishing spot. On supported clients, you can also open a recorded location on the world map.
Fishing Trip
Trips are recorded as you fish, including catches, escapes, places visited, and time spent by the water. You can look back through your recent outings. If a trip was particularly unusual, like a long stretch of casts without a catch, it might earn a title such as The Long Wait and be saved among your Days Remembered so you can revisit it later.

Loose Pages
A place for little notices when the journal has something new to show you, like a nickname you earned, a new story about a fish, a memorable trip, or a rumor from another player. You might also come across a Sunday flyer for the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza.

Read another angler's journal
You can ask another player to let you read their fishing journal. Right-click a fellow angler and choose View Fishing Journal where supported, or target them and use /aj read.
They'll receive a request and must accept it before you can look inside. You can browse their recorded catches, known waters, and angler profile. Their private trips stay private.
Reading someone else's journal can also give you a rumor, like hearing that they caught a certain fish in a particular zone or keep returning to the same fishing spot. It's something they experienced, not a guaranteed fishing tip.
Both players need Angler's Journal and the Fishing profession. You can disable incoming requests with /aj lend.
A little roleplay while you fish
Your character can occasionally react with /e emotes when you catch something special, lose a fish, pull up junk, or fish near other players. Some lines depend on your class, the weather, or the time of day. Small messages and familiar WoW sounds also accompany certain moments.
These reactions are meant to be occasional, not constant chat spam. If you prefer to fish quietly, use /aj rp to turn them off.
Designed to feel Blizzard-native
Angler's Journal is built to look and behave like a native Blizzard interface, as though it had been part of World of Warcraft all along. Its windows, layout, interactions, and sounds are designed to fit alongside the game's own menus.
On WoW Forever Beta, there's even an Angler's Journal button in the Professions window, right under Fishing. Click it to open the journal, or drag it straight onto your action bar like a profession ability.
You can also open it with /aj or the minimap button.
The addon doesn't automate fishing, change your catches, or tell you where to farm. It's here to remember your fishing, not optimize it.
