Alters Forever

A light alt manager for WoW Forever.

I wanted to know what my other characters were carrying without logging into each of them, and the big alt addons felt like too much for that. So I wrote a smaller one.

Every character you log in with gets remembered: level and experience, gold, rested XP, zone, time played, and everything in its bags, bank, mail and on the auction house. Hover any item and the tooltip tells you which of your characters has it and where. The bank, the mail and the auction house are read when you open them, so visit each once per character. The character list also adds up the gold you made today and this week, counting the week from the game's weekly reset.

Click a character and you get its own page, laid out like the in-game character window. A row of icons next to the name switches between items, talents, legacy trees, reputation, skills, PvE/PvP, currency, attributes and statistics. You can check how a character spent its talent and legacy points, which instances and world bosses it is saved to, and the numbers from the game's statistics window. Items are shown bag by bag, slot for slot as they are in the game, each bag under its own divider with its name and how full it is. Click a divider to fold that bag away, or Shift-click to fold them all. You can filter by bags, bank, mail, equipped or auction, and the equipped gear sits in the same slots as on the paper doll.

The Professions tab puts everyone's ranks side by side. Click one to see its recipes, coloured by skill-up chance, with the materials they need and how many of them that character has. Recipes can be searched by name or by material, and recipe items in tooltips say who already knows them, who can learn them and who still needs more skill.

The Guild tab shows the guild bank tab by tab, slot for slot as it is in the game, with its gold. It is read when you open the guild bank with any character in the guild, and item tooltips and Search count it too. If your characters are in different guilds, you pick which one to look at.

Cooldowns like transmutes or mooncloth from all your characters end up in one list, and you get a line in chat when one is ready. You also get a heads-up at login when mail is about to expire or an auction has sold or ended.

Columns sort with a click on their header, and characters you don't want to see can be hidden with a right click without losing anything. By default the window uses the Forever look, dark glass with bronze lines and gold highlights. The Blizzard theme gives it the game's own frames, there are seven colour themes too, and the size and opacity can be changed.

Commands

/af and /alters work too.

Languages

English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Korean and Chinese (simplified and traditional). Anything else falls back to English.
