Akk Minimap

Turns the game's round minimap into a square one — the same effect as the "Simple Square" layout from the SexyMap addon, but standalone, without any of SexyMap's other features (skins, extra buttons, etc.).

When the map becomes square, the icons that used to fit around the round minimap (clock, calendar, addon menu, search/tracking button, zone text) end up out of place — Akk Minimap automatically detects and repositions each one to fit perfectly into the new square layout, with zero configuration needed.

What this addon does

• Switches the round minimap to a square one (same effect as SexyMap's "Simple Square").
• Hides the default round border art (including the N/S/E/W compass) and draws a frame in Blizzard's own official visual style around the square map.
• Automatically repositions: the clock (bottom, centered), the zone text (top, with the decorative rectangle that used to sit behind the name removed), the calendar and addon menu (top-right corner), the search/tracking button (bottom-left corner), and the mail icon (top-left corner, shows up on its own near a mailbox).
• Automatically hides loose icons from other addons that cluster around the minimap (MinimapCLR) — access to them moves to the game's native addon compartment instead.
• The day/night (sun/moon) icon is available but HIDDEN by default — it can be turned on with a command if you want to see it.
• Options panel (Esc > Options > AddOns > Akk Minimap) with an "About" button showing the author's links.

How to use

Nothing to configure to get the square minimap — it's automatic as soon as the addon is enabled.

Commands

/akkminimap icons - Lists the frames found around the minimap (size, position, tooltip), to identify which icon is which on this client. /akkminimap highlight - Draws a numbered outline over each icon near the minimap for 8 seconds (doesn't move anything) - useful for a screenshot to visually match numbers to icons. /akkminimap hidden - Lists the icons MinimapCLR has hidden. /akkminimap sol on - Shows the day/night (sun/moon) icon, hidden by default. /akkminimap sol off - Hides the day/night icon again. /akkminimap mail - Diagnostic: confirms whether the mail icon exists on this client and whether it's currently visible.
