What's new

AIM Sounds 1.1.0

Compatibility update for patch 12.1.0, plus fixes for the login-sound spam and double-firing cues.

Compatibility

  • Updated for WoW Midnight 12.1.0 (Interface 120100) — no longer flagged out of date.

Fixes

  • No more login-sound spam. The friends list is usually empty when the addon loads, so every friend already online was treated as a fresh login on the first friend-list update — meaning a burst of AIM login sounds every time you logged in. Detection now takes a silent baseline snapshot first and only plays a cue on a real online↔offline change.
  • No more double sounds. Adding or removing a friend no longer plays a login/logout cue, and no longer fires alongside the real login/logout handler.
  • Removed the MUTING SOUNDS debug message that printed to chat on every login and reload.
  • Detection now survives /reload and refreshes the friends list when entering the world, not just at first login.

Improvements

  • /aim with no argument now prints the current status and available commands; added /aim toggle.
  • Rewrote friend tracking around a single snapshot-and-diff instead of two overlapping tables.
  • Stopped leaking helper functions (MuteSounds, UnMuteSounds, tablelength) into the global namespace, where the generic tablelength could collide with other addons.
  • Removed the unused AOLDB saved-variable declaration.

No change to what you hear — the four AIM cues and the muting of Blizzard's default social sounds work exactly as before.
