Adventurer's Codex

Adventurer's Codex is a modular World of Warcraft Retail addon designed to help you make better decisions about your character, your inventory, and what to do next.

Instead of automating gameplay, Adventurer's Codex brings information from across WoW into a collection of practical tools for build optimization, gear progression, professions, inventory management, travel, quests, and everyday adventuring.

The goal is simple:

Spend less time figuring out what you should do next and more time playing.

Build Optimizer

Build Optimizer provides character-aware guidance based on your current class, specialization, level, role, and selected optimization goal.

Talent Advisor

Talent Advisor can analyze the character's current talent configuration and prepare a structured snapshot containing the information needed to evaluate the build accurately.

Optimization can be tailored around different types of content and priorities, including:

  • Leveling

  • Open World

  • Delves

  • Mythic+

  • Raid

  • Maximum Damage

  • Survivability

  • Balanced role performance

For deeper analysis, Adventurer's Codex can generate a structured prompt for use with ChatGPT containing the current talent tree, available points, specialization information, Hero talents, and relevant character data.

Recommendations can then be imported back into Adventurer's Codex as a Talent Plan.

Talent Plan can:

  • Identify talents to add, remove, or switch

  • Track completed changes

  • Respect current talent-point availability

  • Recognize talent-tree prerequisites

  • Skip changes that are not yet legally available

  • Locate the appropriate talent in Blizzard's Talent UI

  • Display clear instructions such as AC: Add Sentinel

You always make the final change manually.

Gear Optimizer

Gear Optimizer continuously evaluates equipment available to your current character and compares it with what you are wearing.

It can:

  • Detect useful upgrades in your bags

  • Recalculate recommendations as your gear changes

  • Consider specialization and equipment compatibility

  • Detect invalid weapon configurations

  • Evaluate stored gear known to Adventurer's Codex

  • Incorporate supported Pawn and ClassCodex information when available

  • Locate recommended items with Find

When a recommended item is in your bags, Adventurer's Codex can highlight its exact location with an instruction such as:

AC: Equip [Item Name]

Gear Progression is designed around the character you are currently playing, helping reduce the noise that comes from managing large Warbands.

Warband & Inventory Management

Adventurer's Codex maintains persistent snapshots of inventory information discovered while you play.

Depending on what has been visited and scanned, the Codex can track information from:

  • Character bags

  • Equipped gear

  • Personal banks

  • Warband Bank

  • Warbound equipment

  • Character gold

  • Professions

  • Specializations

  • Guild Bank data

Stored item locations can include the character, storage source, bank tab, and slot where available.

This allows other Codex systems to answer more useful questions than simply:

"Do I own this?"

Instead, they can work toward answering:

"Do I own something better, who can use it, and where did I put it?"

Craft Advisor

Craft Advisor helps answer:

"What should I craft right now?"

Profession recommendations can be evaluated using several goals:

  • Leveling

  • Balanced

  • Profit

  • First Craft

  • No-Spend

The advisor can consider:

  • Profession skill

  • Recipe difficulty

  • Skill-up potential

  • First-craft opportunities

  • Materials already owned

  • Missing reagents

  • Estimated material cost

  • Market value

  • Expected profitability

Profession scans remain expansion-aware so recipes from unrelated expansions do not distort current crafting recommendations.

TradeSkillMaster integration is optional and uses supported TSM pricing information when available.

Item Value Advisor

Not every item in your bags deserves to stay there.

Adventurer's Codex adds an optional item-value recommendation to help determine what to do with everyday inventory.

Depending on the character and available pricing information, the Codex can compare options such as:

  • Vendor

  • Auction

  • Disenchant

Characters with Enchanting can receive disenchant valuation in addition to normal vendor and auction guidance.

When Adventurer's Codex recognizes a transferable piece of gear as potentially useful to another character, it can instead recommend:

Keep / Transfer

so a useful Warbound upgrade is not treated like ordinary junk.

Enchants, Gems, Food & Potions

Build Optimizer also includes dedicated recommendation areas for:

  • Enchants

  • Gems

  • Food

  • Potions

These tools are designed to identify useful enhancements or consumables for the active specialization and selected gameplay objective.

Where appropriate, recommendations can be handed off to Blizzard's Auction House search so you can locate and purchase the item yourself.

Questing, Travel & Adventure Tools

Adventurer's Codex includes additional tools for navigating the world and deciding where to go next.

Features include support for areas such as:

  • Quest-chain assistance

  • Travel guidance

  • Map and waypoint tools

  • Dungeon entrance navigation

  • Adventure Guide access

  • Activity guidance

  • Blizzard's native Damage Meter

  • Optional TomTom integration

The Codex prefers Blizzard's existing interfaces when they already do the job well rather than replacing them unnecessarily.

Addon Dock & Interface Tools

Adventurer's Codex also provides a centralized launcher for its own tools and supported addon integrations.

The Addon Dock can help reduce minimap clutter while keeping useful utilities easily accessible.

Most Codex windows are designed to be movable and practical alongside Blizzard's existing UI.

Optional Integrations

Adventurer's Codex is designed to remain useful on its own while gaining additional information from supported addons when they are installed.

Current integrations may include:

  • Pawn

  • SimulationCraft

  • TomTom

  • ClassCodex

Optional integrations are intended to fail gracefully when unavailable.

Designed to Assist, Not Automate

Adventurer's Codex is a decision-support addon.

It can analyze information, make recommendations, locate items, highlight talents, prepare searches, organize data, and guide you through a process.

It does not automatically:

  • Spend talent points

  • Equip gear

  • Purchase auctions

  • Cast abilities

  • Select combat targets

  • Move your character

  • Perform protected gameplay actions

The player remains in control of every action.

Built for Characters — and Warbands

Adventurer's Codex began as a collection of tools for answering simple questions:

What should I do next?
Is this an upgrade?
What should I craft?
Where did I put that item?
Is my build actually appropriate for what I'm doing?

As the project has grown, those tools have become increasingly connected.

The long-term goal of Adventurer's Codex is to act as a practical, adaptive reference for your entire Warcraft experience — a codex that learns what information matters to the character you're currently playing and puts the next useful decision within reach.
