Subnautica 2's global illumination already looks stunning — but if you have a modern GPU, you're leaving quality on the table. LumenGI adds five GI quality presets controlled by F-keys, including full Lumen hardware ray tracing. Watch light scatter through ocean water, bounce off alien coral, and spill out of bioluminescent creatures in real time.

v1.1 — fixed cvar execution, added F-key bindings, improved Low preset lighting. No extra mods needed.

Presets

Low — maximum performance

Minimal Lumen. Best for weak or older GPUs.

Any GPU

Medium — balanced

Lumen on at lower quality. Good starting point.

Any GPU

High — software Lumen

Full software Lumen. Looks great on most modern GPUs.

Any GPU

Epic — maximum software Lumen

Everything maxed without hardware RT. Needs a strong GPU.

RTX 30xx+ rec.

Epic w/ ray tracing Featured

Full Lumen hardware ray tracing. Real bounce lighting, real reflections.

How to use it

Install UE4SS and drop the LumenGI folder into Binaries/Win64/ue4ss/Mods/

Rename main.lua.txt → main.lua and mod.json.txt → mod.json

Launch Subnautica 2 and press an F-key while in-game

Requirements

Subnautica 2 — Early Access, any version

UE4SS 3.0.1 or higher

Required for F-key bindings and cvar support

Windows PC only

RTX 20xx+ or RX 6xxx+ — for F6 only

All other presets work on any GPU.

Settings reset on game restart — just press your F-key again. If F6 crashes or shows no change, your GPU likely doesn't support DXR — press F5 instead.
