With this mod installed, a quote is selected each day and displayed just before the screen fades in when you wake up. By default it shows a specific quote for each day of the year, and the quote fades away after either clicking a button or waiting a certain period of time based on the number of lines in the day's quote.
The mod comes with a set of 112 eclectic quotes for each day of the Stardew Valley year that I thought were insightful and somewhat relevant to my own feelings about Stardew Valley (some actually relate to the change in seasons too). They are located in the mod's
assets folder as
quotes_default.txt. To use your own set of quotations, create a file called
quotes.txt in the mod's
assets folder and it will ignore mine.
You can also feel free to publish your own set of quotes as a separate mod, just tell people to install this mod and put your quotes.txt file in this mod's assets folder.
Quotation files must be one quote per line, in the format
quote^author (i.e. quote and author are separated by a caret
^). For example:
Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'm possible'!^Audrey Hepburn
You can customize the quote display to a certain extent by editing the mod's
config.json file variables:
"EnableMod": true, - set to false to disable the mod
"QuoteColor": "143, 188, 139, 255", - a color code in RGBA 0-255 notation
"QuoteCharPerLine": 50, - characters per line (approximate)
"QuoteDurationPerLineMult": 1.0, - increase this number to make the quotes last longer (set to a negative value to make the quote last until you click)
"QuoteFadeMult": 1, - increase this number to make the fade in happen more quickly
"AuthorPrefix": "-- ", - a string of characters with which to prefix the author name
"ClickToDispelQuote": true - if true, clicking any button or key causes the fade to begin
"RandomQuote": false - if true, the daily quote will be selected at random.
"QuoteWidth": 1000 - how many pixels wide the quote can be at maximum.
"LineSpacing": 10 - extra pixels between each line of text.
This mod now has an app for the
Mobile Phone which will show up if you have that mod installed.
