Magnetic Chests is a quality-of-life mod that automatically deposits items from your backpack into nearby chests—but only if that chest already contains that item.

It allows you to clear your inventory just by running through your shed or kitchen, without ever opening a menu.

Features

• Magnetic Pull: Simply walk within range of a chest (default: 1.5 tiles), and compatible items will instantly transfer from your backpack to the chest.

• Smart Stacking: The mod only deposits items that stack with items already inside the chest. It will never dump random new items into the wrong boxes, preserving your specific chest layout.

• Kitchen Friendly: Works with the Farmhouse Fridge. Walk into your kitchen to instantly stash your crops and cooking ingredients.

• Visual Feedback: A floating message (e.g., "+10 Wood") appears above your head so you know exactly what was moved.

• Safety First:

• Tools are safe: The mod will never take your tools.

• Menu Cooldown: After you close a chest menu, the mod pauses for 5 seconds (configurable). This prevents the chest from immediately "stealing" an item back if you just took it out to use it.

• Multiplayer Safe: Checks if chests are currently in use by other players to prevent item loss or duplication glitches.

Configuration

This mod supports Generic Mod Config Menu (GMCM) for easy in-game configuration. You can change:

• Enable/Disable: Turn the entire mod on or off without uninstalling.
• Trigger Range: How close you need to stand to a chest (Default: 1.5 tiles).
• HUD Messages: Turn the floating text notification on or off.
• Sound: Adjust how often the sound effect plays.
• Menu Cooldown: Adjust how long the mod waits after you close a menu before it starts working again.

Installation

• Install the latest version of SMAPI.
• (Optional) Install Generic Mod Config Menu to configure settings in-game.
• Download this mod and unzip it into your Stardew Valley/Mods folder.
• Run the game.
