The Concept

In vanilla Stardew Valley, the day turns to night with a simple lighting fade. While functional, it often misses the most beautiful part of the evening: that moment when the sky turns a deep, burning orange and the world is bathed in warm light.

Golden Transitions adds a stunning, smooth atmospheric overlay to your game. It bridges the gap between afternoon and night with a rich, glowing transition that you can customize to your exact taste.

Key Features

The "Golden Hour" Effect
The mod introduces a "Build-Up" phase before the sun actually sets. Watch as your farm slowly begins to glow with warmth in the late afternoon.
Fully Customizable Palette
Do not like the default orange? You have full RGB control. Create a Deep Red burning sunset, a Soft Pink twilight, or a Bright Gold afternoon.
Precise Timing Control
You decide how long the sunset lasts. Configure the Build-Up (how early the glow starts) and the Fade-Out (how long the colors linger into the night) separately.
Seamless Integration
This mod does not force the time. It listens to the game's clock. If you use mods that change when the sun sets (like Dynamic Dusk), Golden Transitions will automatically adapt to match the new time perfectly.

Color Recipes

Don't like the default Deep Orange? You can enter these numbers into the config menu (R, G, B) to change the mood of your sunset:

Classic Golden Hour (Bright Yellow-Gold)
R: 255 | G: 200 | B: 60
Burning Horizon (Intense Red)
R: 255 | G: 60 | B: 30
Soft Peach (Gentle Pink-Orange)
R: 255 | G: 160 | B: 120
Sepia Tone (Nostalgic / Old Photo)
R: 240 | G: 180 | B: 100

Visual Configuration

You can tweak every aspect of the sunset using Generic Mod Config Menu (GMCM).

1. Appearance

Max Intensity: Controls how transparent or strong the glow is. (Default: 40% ensures visibility while keeping the game playable).
RGB Sliders: Mix your perfect sunset color.
* Recommendation: High Red + Low Green = Deep Orange.* Recommendation: High Red + Medium Green = Gold.

2. Schedule

Build-Up Duration: How many minutes before the official sunset time the glow begins.
* Set to 45 for a nice, long Golden Hour while you finish your chores.* Set to 0 if you only want the glow to appear exactly at dusk.
Fade-Out Duration: How many minutes after sunset the glow takes to disappear.
* Set to 120 to let the warmth linger into the early night before true darkness takes over.

Installation

Install the latest version of SMAPI.
Download Golden Transitions.
Unzip the folder into your Stardew Valley/Mods folder.
Run the game.

(Optional) Install Generic Mod Config Menu to edit colors and timing in real-time without restarting the game.

Compatible with Stardew Valley 1.6+
Compatible with mods that alter the length of the day or the specific time of sunset (e.g., Dynamic Dusk).
Visuals: Because this mod uses a lightweight overlay, it is compatible with most texture replacements and recolors.
